Oaks/Canyon at Blacklake Golf Course

About
Blacklake Golf Resort boasts 27 holes of championship golf that are divided into three nines called the Oaks, Canyons, and Lakes. The nines can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Oaks/Canyons Course is the toughest of the three. The front nine features narrow fairways that wind through mature coastal oaks. If you're not careful, you may find yourself in the woods on this challenging target-style layout. The back nine doesn't get any easier with a layout that tumbles across rolling terrain. With the resort's location on the Nipomo Mesa along California's Central Coast, the elevated tee boxes on the Canyons nine allows for some stunning views. The location also invites refreshing sea breezes. In addition to the three golf courses, there is also a 275-yard driving range available with more than 30 grass and artificial teeing areas as well as three putting, chipping, and pitching greens.

Don’t waste your time or money
Don’t waste your time or money!!
The Owners have let this place go to the gophers along with Avila
This courses was in terrible shape
The course had literally hundreds of gopher holes on every fairway you needed a kidney belt to drive your golf cart down the fairways the green tea boxes were good
Greens and tea boxes were good. Fairways were so rough. You needed a kidney belt to ride a golf cart hundreds of gopher holes on all the Fairways
Blacklake Needs Attention
First time I’ve been back to this course in a couple years. Found brown grass that needs watering and greens that need drastic improvement. I try to stay loyal to courses near me, but the price is too much for the quality of the course maintenance.
Dead fairways
I’ve played Black Lake over the last 30 years and this is the worst I’ve ever seen it! The fairways were brown with many dead spots and the pace of play was horrendous! There was a five some in front of several twosomes! They let Avila Bay go to pot And now Blake has followed suit!
Gofers and Lack Of Water
The course was the worst I have ever seen it. We played the Canyons and the Lakes. The gophers have taken over and the fairways were extremely dry, Black Lake needs to lower its rates if its going to be a sub-par course.
The condition of the course is in really sad shape. Some of the greens are getting diseased and some of the tee boxes don’t have any grass.
Poor golfing conditions
This is the worst that I’ve ever seen this course! It looks like the fairways have not been watered in weeks! The greens were very slow, but that’s understandable if they’re not watering them regularly!
Over Priced
This course as of right now is in pretty bad shape. Dead fairways, rot on greens, poor tee boxes. The price we paid was better than full price at $90-100 but still no where near a $60-70 course. Very disappointing.
Needs TLC
I will start off by saying I love black Lake. It is one of my favorite courses on the Central coast. However, it is in dire need of some upkeep. The fairways are dead grass and full of gopher holes. It was a terrible experience playing today. management needs to step up their game and put a lot of time and effort into bringing this course back up to par.
Blacklake Oaks and Canyon Courses
First tee on the Oaks Course - I looked at where the back tees were set, so I think I should take a practice swing, and sure enough I hit the overhanging branches of the oak tree directly above the tee box. Definitely moved my ball outside the tee block. Lots of animal burrows in the fairways, and greens have dead, moldy patches. Use GolfNow Hot Deals or Golf Moose to get a deal. The full list price is way too high.
GOPHERS IN CHARGE
The course layout was fine and the challenge was moderate, but the gophers owned the course. The groundskeepers simply mowed over the gopher holes and mounds instead of controlling them. Fairways were covered with gopher holes sometimes interrupting the roll of the ball and certainly making the cart ride very bumpy.
It’s really sad to see this course in such rundown condition.
