Oaks/Canyon at Blacklake Golf Course
About
Blacklake Golf Resort boasts 27 holes of championship golf that are divided into three nines called the Oaks, Canyons, and Lakes. The nines can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Oaks/Canyons Course is the toughest of the three. The front nine features narrow fairways that wind through mature coastal oaks. If you're not careful, you may find yourself in the woods on this challenging target-style layout. The back nine doesn't get any easier with a layout that tumbles across rolling terrain. With the resort's location on the Nipomo Mesa along California's Central Coast, the elevated tee boxes on the Canyons nine allows for some stunning views. The location also invites refreshing sea breezes. In addition to the three golf courses, there is also a 275-yard driving range available with more than 30 grass and artificial teeing areas as well as three putting, chipping, and pitching greens.

Horrible Maintenance but Great Potential
Played here in the late 90’s and course was not that great. Today the fairways, if there are any, have been taken over by clovers and gophers. The layout is really awesome and with three nine hole courses it would be easy to shut one down at a time and refurbish them. The carts not as clean as they could be and the staff could have provided more information about the courses and given a free yardage book. Definitely not a $50 course as of now but if renovated could be a $70-$90 course easy.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave an excellent rating! We really appreciate your business. Please let us know what we can do for you in the future to earn that last star and thanks for choosing Lakes/Canyon at Blacklake Golf Course!

Course maintenance
This course needs a qualified maintenance program to many gofer holes and fairways are not mowed properly.

Not worth it
If you're on vacation here, go play golf elsewhere. This course just raised green fees to a ridicules amount. Even a hot deal is overpriced. Fairways are green but super thin and mostly weeds. Debris on the fairways from all the trees. Extreme gopher infestation. Dirt mounds everywhere. This course will only get worse with the coming dry season.
Oaks is a target course not recommended.
Was required to play the oaks course do to volume of people playing that day. The oaks course is a very narrow course with many hazards, it can be quite frustrating if you're not a target course golfer, When I asked to play the canyons instead of the oaks, received what I consider a rude remark from the front desk. Not sure if I will play Blacklake again if required to play the oaks.
Not sure I’d spend my $$ to play here again!
Hard pan and clover clumps as a fairway is not what I’d call a golf course. Greens were spongy and no true roll ( bouncy all the way to the cup). Not looking for a TPC or Pebble Beach, but you’d think the could at least keep the fairways in decent condition.
Some minor damage
Luckily I was pared up with two guys who knew the course. Greens in good shape, some damage to fairways from recent storms. I played Gold tees on Canyon & Lakes 9's for 4800 yards total. Mostly bogies and doubles, not uncommon for first time play.
Good value and condition
Many courses in the area have sustained weather damage. Blacklake's damage was minimal. Being a senior I would have preferred for the Red tees to be a neutral color for both seniors and women. The whites are too long and the golds are not really tees on many holes. The electric carts are great, and the staff friendly

great day playing at Black Lake
The coarse is in good shape. The fairways need little TLC, but, all in all I had a great time. The staff are always friendly

Tee boxes seem neglected and fairways are in bad shape.

Ok experience
The course needs to be maintained much better for the price point in my opinion. It puts itself as a resort due to cost, but the maintenance needs improvement, most likely management of the course if the culprit. Drove in surrounded by beautiful homes- well kept streets, the course played like a muni.
Greens are in good condition.. fairways and tee boxes need help
Tee box
Teeing off on uneven surfaces is the trademark for this course. I understand the owner, Mr Rossi likes to use this course as on of his write offs for his business
