No marshal! 5 1/2 hours!!!
5 soles and sixsomes were common. The 5 some in front of us did not care who they were holding up. They spent a long time looking and fishing for balls, even hit a couple of balls at times yet would not let us play through. It took us two hours and fourtyminutes to play the front. Two groups were backed up on number 11 so we went back to the front nine.not again!
Good Course for average golfers
Very impressed with front nine, back nine is challenging but was dry and a lot of construction underway. Not a long course, but has some challenging holes. Really enjoyed playing it. Pace of play was good with 10AM teeoff
First time
a little over price unless you go to golfnow for a better rate, somewhat dry but to be expected with the water problems everywhere. friendly staff and other players, was a good time for the first time. will play again....
Frustrating day of golf
We had a 12:15 tee time. Guy in the golf shop said they were running about 15 minutes behind. I thought no problem. Ended up waiting almost an hour because they were out of carts. I thought "at least the course should play fast"......no one in front of us. I was wrong! By the fourth or fifth hole we would have three foursomes at the same hole. Still cannot figure out what happened? By the sixth hole, we needed a new cart because our's was dying. At the turn, opted to play the front nine again to avoid the crowd. Still only got in 15 holes.
excellent value
They make everyone feel welcome to this great local course. Greens are perfect and no better value anywhere in San Diego County.
Oside muni
Fair condition, a little slow pace. But a good day out.
Confusing
Some of the tee off areas are confusing. We were not sure where to hit ball. 9th hole we hit into 1st fareway because there are no markers as to where to go.
Greens were fast which is ok. If balls off fairway almost impossible to find them. We lost about 9 balls. Most by just off the fairway.
O'side GC
I play this mini regularly. It is a nice public course that stays in good condition. Pace of play is good, and as in most places early play moves faster. Greens are always in good shape and roll well. Nice challenge for the weekend warrior.
Worth the money
I always enjoy Oceanside Muni. If you like perfect grass it won't be your cup of tea but it has some good holes and a good variety of tee boxes.
Great course for the money
I'll recommend this golf course to all Stages of skills
Normal
Course greens in excellent condition, course spotty but the weather probably has more to do with it.
Fun!
best bang for your buck around North County and a challenging course
great time
For the money, this was a great course. The golf course was in great shape despite severe drought in this area.
Not as bad as earlier reviews
I made my tee time through GolfNow and had no issues. When I arrived to check in, I was greeted by name, which was surprising as I do not play here very often. I was paired with another golfer who was riding, and was on the course 20 minutes before my time. Although we were behind a foursome, they let us know that we would be able to pass them on the first Par 3. Considering the drought that we are having, the course was in better shape then I remember, and the greens were in good condition, Although the back nine had just been worked on, the greens were already starting to suffer the effects on ball marks not being repaired. This is an individual golfer issue and not one with course management. Overall, the day was very enjoyable and because I got out early, I was able to complete the round in 3.25 hours walking.
Oceanside Muni
Municipal style course. A few strange holes. Inexpensive charge but not worth my time in the future. If you happen to get off the fairway chances are you will play from the dirt. Greens weren't bad but recovering from a punch that looked a couple weeks old. I assume the starter slipped a threesome in front of us on the back and they seemed not aware of pace of play. It was a bit slow already and ended with two groups on the tees waiting, waiting, waiting. Really not playable. Too bad!
Worst Golf Course Ever
This is a terrible course. The staff was friendly, which was the only saving grace, but the course is awful. First off, we made the tee time through Golf Now which was a mistake, and I probably won't do that again. Golf Now is a good place to screen the courses to see what's available and who has tee times, etc., but I recommend calling the course directly. You find out valuable things that Golf Now either doesn't know or knows but doesn't report. In this case, the back 9 was closed so we had to play the front 9 twice - not in Golf Now's information. The course had just been plugged and the greens were heavily sanded - not in Golf Now's information. You couldn't even see the grass on the greens - assuming there was some under the sand. The sand was so thick it left footprints and slowed the ball to a crawl. There were gopher holes everywhere. The fairway grass was terrible - very uneven, and missing in many places. Forget about approaching your ball on the fairway to find out if you have a good lie or a bad lie - there were no good lies. They were running a Men's Club the day we played and because the back 9 was closed, they had to integrate the players coming off 9 with those just starting out. The players in the men's club assumed they had preference over everyone else, and terrible (none) management lead to arguments between the players as to who's turn was next. Even though we were told by the pro shop that we were next on the first tee, a men's club group came off the 9th tee and tried to cut in front of us. When I told them we were next, one of the rude players told me "no your not, we're in a tournament." I went looking for the pro shop guy to get it clarified (he was no where to be found - the pro shop was completely empty) and the course manager had to come out and argue with the Men's Club group that we were next, not them. It was ugly and set our round off in a very bad mood with tension between us and the group who was (now) behind us. To be fair to the management, who I think were nice folks trying to do a good job, they had a ton of things to deal with that day. The back 9 was closed because of maintenance and the clubhouse was being painted, so management had their hands full dealing with all the contractors, and unfortunately the players were left to fend for themselves for the most part. They did give us $5 off each on the greens fees as a consolation.
But I would pass this one up. Weekday greens fees were $39, which isn't a lot in Southern California, but not worth it in my opinion. I won't be back.
the golf has good challenging holes I love....
Good course ...would love to play it every weekend
mehhh
they were punchimg fairways and didnt tell us before we started/booked it. Also, tee boxes were like hitting out of a sand trap. And sand traps were straight packed dirt or had puddles. Only good thing was greens in decent shape and the $4.50 hotsog soda chips combo. Much rather play torrey pines for $5 more (with resident card)
Good Greens and Fairways
Good muni course. Somewhat narrow fairways. Lots of doglegs so you need to play with someone that knows the course.
Has a First Tee facility next door and looked like it had a good Juniors program going on while we were there.
Oceanside SD
Greens were very well kept. Fairways very beat up. Very dried out from drought I think.
