The Galleon/Brigantine Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses at the club. Galleon/Brigantine has a rating of 72.7, with a slope of 133 from the championship tees.
The original nine holes - Galleon - meander through large oak and tall pines. Accurate placement of approach shots into heavily guarded greens is necessary on this nine.
Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.

Old boys course
Like playing in time warp,real old boys golf club.Head starter barely polite enough.arrived early,wouldn’t let us go ahead ,although plenty of time.We played as a two ball behind his friends in a 5 ball,first time ever for me.Luckily they felt ashamed and let us thru.maybe it’s was because we booked thru GolfNow, are European foreigners or I was playing with my wife.Only sporadic red tees for ladies, Gallion in good condition.Clipper had bunkers under repair on almost every hole.fairways in poor condition.At this price level and what Hiltonhead has otherwise to offer, not worth playing.First negative experience on the island.

Traps on Clipper 9 under construction and were unplayable. Also 9th green was unplayable as it was under construction
Could be a nice course once traps get fixed but meanwhile if you hit in the traps you have to go in and get the ball and drop outside.

Course was great and were welcomed by a very friendly staff. We were playing with a foursome and had a twosome behind us and let them pass us on the 7th. Proceeded to get sprayed by the sprinklers and then a staff member came by to tell us we should have been done with our round 10 minutes ago. I normally don’t write reviews, but am very frustrated by this. Staff member had a horrible approach and was very rude.
