LakeRidge Golf Course
About
LakeRidge Golf Course is a Robert Trent Jones course that has consistently been voted the "Best of Reno" ever since it first opened in 1969. Though the course sits less than five miles from downtown, the surrounding mountains provide a tucked-away feel. There are some stunning views from the elevated tees but don't get too distracted, this challenging course demands your attention. Mature trees tower over the fairways but they are thankfully wide enough to offer a little room for error. Water comes into play frequently and there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along the undulating greens. Accuracy is essential at LakeRidge Golf Course. The signature hole is the par-3 15th. This tee sits atop a rocky ridge that is perched 140 feet above Lake Stanley. You'll be playing downhill to an island green on this challenging but scenic hole.

fun course can be challenged
enjoyed playing this course. Staff is friendly courses in nice shape could be a little better but still in good condition.it's an older course with some scenic holes and great views.
Great course
I haven't played this course in 30 years. I am from the Bay Area and I have been trying to find this course since then. The problem was I couldn't remember the name of the course that I played 30 years ago. I do remember that I loved it then as much as I loved it now.
hidden treasure
We have played in Reno several times but have always avoided this course thinking a downtown course would be average at best. We found a great deal on golf now and played. All I can say is it was a pleasant surprise. Nice greens and fairways and a challenging layout. I am a left to right player and it seemed that most of the holes were right to left. Even though it did not fit my eye I thought the course was great. This course is now on our list to hit next time we are in town.
Great greens
Good course with nice mix of holes. Playable, and yet a nice challenge from the tips. Course conditions for a daily fee course we're excellent. Only serious issue, an overly talkative starter, responsible for our 10 min late start, and the ridiculously slow, oblivious 3 ball in front. Good deal for course conditions.
Fun to play
Overall it was a fun and difficult course to play. Very enjoyable.
Great golf now deal
Got a great golf now deal to play for $30 with an afternoon tee time. Definitely worth it. Would play every week for that deal with no hesitation. Course is in great early season shape.
Lakeridge!!!
This is by far my favorite course in reno! Course is on good shape for this time of year. Greens were slow in morning we teed off before 9am. By 10:30 am they were moving and rolling. There are a few dry spots which is expected this time of year in reno. By May this course is a 5 star course. Staff is always top notch! TJ, Adrian very accommodating! Alex the starter was ver nice too as kept a watchful eye on us before round to make sure we were all ready. Course Marshall very nice as well. After the round we had drinks in the bar and food. Great food and the bartender was awesome! Great day and lots of fun! Thank you Duncans and lakeridge golf.
Good day, bad course etiquette
The course was in great shape on a great day, so it was busy.
Unfortunately, the foursome in front of us were poor golfers and would not wave us through, in spite of the fact there were two holes open ahead of them.
To top that off, they were served by the cart girl in the middle of the FIRST HOLE!!
That would be right under the nose of the starter, huh???
If a golf course wants foursomes to start every 8 or 9 minutes, then they MUST have a marshall to move players forward or aside so we can get a round in in four and a half hours!!
Beautiful course, infested with some animal
Absolutely gorgeous course. I only took off some stars because there is some ground squirrel looking animal everywhere. There was one green with about 20 of them surrounding the hole. A local told me that they were called "marmots". I couldn't help but think of Caddyshack the whole time I was golfing.
A Day At Lakeridge
A Great day to play! Had a 8:48 tee time and got out a little early the play was open until hole 5 then got a little jammed up. The greens were just punched so as expected a big challenge to make putts. I believe DGM is doing a fantastic job with this course along with Wolfrun it also manages. Stopped for a drink and chow before we left and it was also very good. A Great Day to be out!
Overbooked on Weekends
Had a group of 7 playing two foursomes ahead of us, No Marshall in site or on the course even after we called, skipped by the 2 foursomes and the 7 on one hole and then caught up to another threesome with-in a hole, No one told us about the sanded greens before booking, Weather was Great
Great Layout and close by
I had made my tee time on Golf Now. I arrived early for my 1:45 time. The pro shop told me if I wanted I could go to the tee and go because the tee was clear. There I paired up with another early arrival and we played 18 in a little over 3 hours, great for a public course. The course is in good shape for early spring. It's and old course which is nice, because it's not tricked up like a lot of new ones. The greens had just been sanded and punched but played well. The course must be a haven for geese for there is a lot them and you know what that means!! There's also a lot of marmots but not a problem. The 15th par 3 is the signature hole for LakeRidge with it's island green. Overall, I have always enjoyed this course.
enjoyed this coarse
Booked tee time on the internet, golf now and had a very good day of golf on this coarse. played from the green tees. the staff that takes care of the coarse really did a great job of bringing the coarse back after the winter season. greens were plugged and sanded and still rolled very well. had a great time. was able to keep the same ball through the full 18 hole round. tee boxes were in great shape for this early into spring. and fairways were in great shape as well. the price to play this coarse was very reasonable. will return for another round of golf at Lake ridge.
Classic Layout
Was unaware of this property and course but understand it has been around for over 50 years! Found via GolfNow and pleased I did. The staff was very friendly and I was paired up with an elderly individual, Darwin, who has been playing the course every year since it opened. He only enjoyed 9 holes but was a real joy. Remaining partner was a very competent player and a colleague of his joined for the back. So, as a threesome, found the entire round to be enjoyable and fulfilling. Will always keep this course in mind for when I am connecting or overnighting in Reno in the future.
Challenging course
Nice course with lots of challenges. The round was very slow.
Excellent course for this time of year!
Course was in great shape and condition for this time of year here in Northern Nevada! Having played this course in the Spring and Summer I know how amazing a condition it will be in and I'm excited to play it! Best overall course in town!
Favorite in Reno
Most all things good. Starter let us putt and chip a little past our T Time as those behind us we not yet to the tee. We were 2 and it allowed some space between us and the 4some ahead. 4some did let us through on the par 3, we then caught 2 couples on 8-9 (very slow). We skipped 10 and had a delightful pace for the entire backside. Course condition would have received 5 stars if way most of the goose dropping had been cleared.
Tough Greens
This course was in great shape despite the time of year. My only complaint about the condition would be the amount of goose feces all over. It is a mature old course, with a classic design. Several holes are very memorable and challenging. The greens are undulating and irregular. Very tricky. I would say that this is a must play for any person playing golf in the Reno area. A member of my foursome actually lost a rangefinder all playing. The entire staff set out to find it for him,and they did. Great service.
LakeRidge GC Reno January 2015
The undulation provided a ruin left-right challenge. Initially, the pace of play was poor because they overbooked. On the back 9, it cleared up. There are some nice views of the mountain range. The local terrain makes it difficult if you hit OB...bring a few extras. Overall, fun day, nice folks, and good value.
Great 15th hole
You will enjoy this course no matter what you skill level. They do there best to keep the geese off the fairways, but watch your step.
