Willow Creek Golf Course
About
Situated between Greenville and Spartanburg, Willow Creek Golf Course is a favorite course amongst many area players. The course has a classic layout that starts out gently with a player-friendly front nine but then becomes much more challenging on the back nine. The layout is a seemingly mild 6,890 yards from the back tees but it can feel longer because of all the elevation changes you'll encounter. It's a golf course that will appeal to beginners but advanced players will also enjoy the many risk-reward opportunities that can be found throughout. Water hazards come into play on eight holes and there is a slew of strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The par-5 fifth hole is Willow Creek Golf Course's signature. This 516-yard hole tumbles across rolling hills with a stream that cuts right through the fairway.

Work on your pairings
I booked a single earlier in the morning and I checked in with the starter and I wasn't on his printed list so he had to put me somewhere. I saw 2 different 2 somes tee off and then I question why I couldn't be paired with the 2nd one so he puts me with another single after 2 4 somes tee off. I feel that it could have been handled better. Only got to play 3 holes so I didn't see the whole course but it looked good from what I saw
Needs better communication and observation
Booked a tee time for a single at 1:12. When I check in with the starter, my name isn't on the sheet he had which was probably printed way earlier and he says I'll have to find a spot for you. I look on #1 and there was a 2 some teeing off, then 2 4 somes in line. A 2 some goes in front of the 2nd 4 some which he could have easily put me with. I then question why he didn't and he then puts me with another single. Just seems like it could have been handled better. Course seems to be in good shape but I only played through 3 holes
Communicate Tee Time Changes yo your customers
Reserved an 8:08am tee time on 5/23 for 5/30, week in advance
Arrived at course at 7:40am to be informed our tee time had been moved to 8:32am after a group shotgun at 8:30am on the back 9
This was done to 4 groups who had tee times before the group shot gun
When asked why we were not going off the front, mgr with starter was a little short saying we know how to do these things
We were then also placed behind the last of the shot gun groups on the back
After. 3hr and 10min first 9
Had to call it a day
Staff was a little short about issuing a rain check
I’ve been playing this course for years, but the condition of the traps and areas around the greens makes me question current mgmt of the course
Nice track, will play again
There are a few issues with bunkers on the back 9 but I assume they are working on all of them seeing how the front 9 bunkers seem to have nice new sand. Course is good layout with interesting holes and challenges. Will be back just not sure when. I stay 1.5 hours away.
Becoming a regular
The more I play this course, the more I like it. Fairways and greens are in great shape. Friendly starters.
Bad customer service.
Extremely disappointed. Booked an early tee time a week in advance. Showed up with group only to learn that there was a member shotgun start. Tee time was delayed by 1.5 hours, took 3 hours to play 9 holes. At the turn had to sit an additional 30 minutes to wait. Simply put, course is in great shape, but poor customer service. I could not in good faith recommend this course to anyone because of the attitude of the staff in the pro shop. They have absolutely no clue about customer service, and southern hospitality.
Good course but had some issues
I really have always loved Wilkins creek. Have played it more times than I can count. But has some issues. We play from the back yellow tees. Most tees boxes are so un level and have dips and mounds that it’s difficult to find a flat spot to tee off from. Those tee boxes really need to be leveled and have new sod put down.
The greens have been decent but they are crazy hard and fast. I’m hoping it’s just cause it’s early in the season. It’s almost impossible to chip and hold the green. The grass was spotty made some putts not roll very true to the line.
Overall it’s a good course but for the money they charge it should be better. It’s more expensive than most courses in the area so the conditions should reflect that.
