Harbor at Wild Dunes Golf Links
About
Wild Dunes Harbor Course, designed by Tom Fazio, is said to be cut from some of the prettiest real estate in South Carolina. Water makes up a great deal of the Harbor Course layout. After all, half the course runs along the world’s longest water hazard, The Intracoastal Waterway. Fazio claims the Harbor Course to be one of his favorites. "Working on the Harbor Course was very satisfying to me as a designer because we had to create everything. It was a very challenging, and ultimately, a very satisfying project."

Course was in rough shape to spend this much
Cool layout along the ICW, but course wasn’t in great shape. Greens were a little rough. I’d expect better for the price, but it’s not an outrageous cost, so probably worth a shot.
Eh
The greens were in really rough shape, and it’s definitely not worth the price. Very expensive for a mediocre at best course.
Vacation fun, tough fun
Wild Dunes Harbor Course- Got a better deal on Golf Now than the course had online by $15 for 3 players. Course was going to charge 2-3X the taxes. Got there around 1:30 for 2:30 tee time and they were “mowing the driving range” and that would take until our tee time which meant we couldn’t use our free buckets. Guy in shop was super friendly and let us move our tee time on up to 1:50. Putted for 10 minutes and got on. SUPER windy day which made the first holes easier. On the way back it was crazy but still had a great time. Played in early June and temps were not bad. ~85 with real feel of around 90. 10 more degrees and this would have really tough for my father Inlaw (72).
Fun but tough. Lots of water and natural hazards. Good drives on most courses went into the marshes. I usually shoot around 80 and was in mid 90s. That kinda stuff doesn’t bug me so we had a great time. Wrapped up around 6 and started at 1:50. Let a group of 2 and one guy play through on two occasions. Speed of play was fine.
$88 is high for me. I play a couple public courses in Kentucky on a regular basis for 40-50. Father in law tipped the cart loader at start and club cleaners at end. Both were not needed and definitely not what I am used to. Cart lady came by twice
Beautiful scenery and course layout
First time playing this course and trying be told the only reason we picked it was the availability of tee time wee needed. I am glad we did. The course was beautiful and challenging. The water hazards did me in..... Great price for the quality of the course. Wildlife for the area was added bonus.
Cool layout
No carts were available for my 3:40 tee time, didn’t go off until 4:30. Cart was dirty and smelled like stale beer. For the price it is not worth it.
Oooooffff
Course was soaking wet. Every hole had puddles. Charleston received rain 2 days prior. The greens are a complete mess, very long and slow. Extremely slow. By hole 10 there were 3 groups waiting to tee off. Unfortunate as this course was in amazing shape Nov-April. No chance to get food other than a cart girl. While the course layout is nice, it’s very tight and short. Some holes can be repetitive. . Save your money, play something else. Soft Pace, Slow greens.
Harbor Course
Yesterday was the first time playing the full course; as the first time I played, 5 holes were flooded. Playing solo behind a 3 some was not bad. They saw that I was moving quickly and let me play through. The problem lies in that foursome that was originally ahead of them. They seem to believe that they were going to PGA tour this week. They were so slow that the 3 some who were 1.5 holes behind me caught up with me and we still had to wait 5-10 minutes just to get them from tee to fairway to green. Probably could have finished that round in 3.5. Course wise, it was MAGNIFICENT. Not a bad spot out there unless you landed near the gators, and you had to beg their pardon to play through. Will return in the future.
Not an Exclusive Experience
If you like to play in a venue where between holes you drive through construction sites, commercial parking areas where payloaders, bulldozers occupy beat up parking lots and chain link fences this is your place. The fairways were fine, the greens tiny but acceptable condition, but everything away from the hole itself detracts from your experience. The roadways for carts are a deteriorated mess, you’re driving with or against real traffic over highway bridges. To hold yourself out as a first class experience is dishonest at. Least. But there aren’t a lot of choices on IOP, so if you want convenience this is one of your two choices. Also, although my greens fee included driving range privileges, the range was closed for maintenance and I was not offered any compensation. Also know that there is NO DRIVING RANGE at the Harbor course, you have to drive your car to the Links course if you want to hit balls before playing, then drive back to Harbor to play. Not an ideal set up and not disclosed on the website.my 5 star rating for pace of play was because no one was out there.I was able to go out 90 minutes before my tee time (I was there early to hit balls on the closed driving range at the Links course.)PS do not attempt to walk this course!
