Toka Sticks Golf Club
About
Unlike many other courses in Phoenix, the course at the Toka Sticks Golf Club was not done in a traditional desert-style. It is known amongst locals for having very fast greens, many of which are elevated. The old Toka Sticks course was originally a nine-hole course built in 1945 but in addition to making it an 18-hole, championship course, it has had many renovations in the years since to make it a more challenging and interesting course. There are stately trees present on the course call for straight shots in order to reach the narrow fairways. Two lakes are situated on the course that create water hazards that come into play on sever holes. There are also several well-placed sand bunkers throughout. Toka Stick Golf Club also offers a short game area, a putting green and a driving range.

Course is disgusting
This used to be a good course. Fun layout. Good pace of play. But now, it’s garbage. Burned out. Worst morning jobs I’ve ever seen on a course. Shouldn’t even be charging to play golf there right now. Just about any muni in the country is better than this.
Stress free
From start to finish, pace was the best ever. We were able to tee off a couple of minutes early and never once did we wait on a tee box or fairway, as well as not seeing the group behind us. Round was right at 3 1/2 hours, a perfect, stress free morning on the golf course.
First Time playing
Was looking forward to playing here since I hadn’t as of yet and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The course itself is kind of in rough shape as dead spots on greens and fairways were ok but some fairways had been rocked over in dead spots but if it cost $10-15 less it would be a great bargain otherwise you can spend almost $40 in summer at better courses.
We had 2 couples in front of us and it was evident the women do not play much. The worst part was that they had the women play from the men's tee's. This slowed up play. Either the guys were bullies or the women lost a bet.
Ok course green fees on the high side...
Course is in ruff shape a lot of improvements on the greens but overall fun course to play for course condition rates are a little high
No better than average
Too dry- very few yardage marks. I’m old school and don’t always carry my range finder.
Greens were in terrible need of water! Worst I’ve seen them in years.
Not worth more than $20.
Grass on greens
First course in three weeks that had grass on the Greens. Most in area are airaiting then and have big holes. They started early and put table now.
Great pass of play. Watered well fairways early had some standing water. Had a good time with the boys. Will be back.
AZ Summer Golf
For AZ golf in the summer this course is in good condition and rate of play always seems to be good- never too jammed up.
Greens were in bad shape. Very little drinking water and carts had no coolers, no cart person. Better come prepared with your own coolers, ice and water. Course was soggy and the greens were in port condition. So many prairie dogs and dirt mounts. So many better options for the money. Look elsewhere fellow golfers.
Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, under the Covid circumstances, we have decided to take all water jugs off the course. Ice coolers are offered in the grill for all players. We have addressed all issues with excessive standing water and dirt mounds are currently a daily occurrence that is being dealt with. We hope you come and play again.
Very nice, mature course with interesting variety
Conditions were great even though there was patchiness around the edges of a lot of green, but that really didn't effect the game as pin placements were far away from those spots. Played the back tees (6900 yds.) ... from there the par 3's were all 200-230 yds. All-in-all a very good experience and worth putting on your list of "to play" courses.
An AZ Staple
Toka Sticks is always a fun lil tract old school, mature course. Pretty straight away. #9 is always a challenge.
Fun course for the value!
Summer conditions
Staff is great and they are managing to keep it green in the heat. Except for some greens damage on the outside perimeter of maybe 6 or 7 holes. Looked kind of like chemical burn but they were working on it. I play this course year round and always enjoy myself. Maybe it’s the Kiltlifters on tap.
Golf
Always love Toka Sticks! Course is great, price is great and the golf is fun.
