About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Golfer Reviews
Greens are slow, tee boxes under repair.
Temporary tee boxes make for some short par 4s, tees are generally pretty rough at best. Greens are slow but otherwise in decent shape. Typical summer time conditions.
Fun Course
Fun local muni course. Plays well despite the slow pace. No marshals on the course, and lack of golf etiquette made for extreme slow downs and delays. For the value tho a great course with great golf shop stafff.
Course Under Repair
Have played this course since the 70s and became a club member some years ago, back when the cart route from hole 8 to hole 9 required driving on the sidewalk on 19th avenue. Sad to see what’s become of what once was a phenomenal public golf course. Maybe It’ll make a comeback before Jesus returns his Church. 🙏
Great value
Minus the temporary tee boxes the course is great especially for the summer rates. For summer conditions are great. Carts with gps are also very nice
Nice public course
Good public couse, challenging layout, greens in good condition, fairways need more grass lits if dirt spots. Overall nice public course fir the price!!
Over priced
For the shape the course is in it’s over priced. Could have golfed closer to home for less on a course that is in better condition
Also, Golf Now originally had my tee time at 9:04 then changed it to 11:04 the next day. Got to the course at 11. They said iit was 9:04
Course was in Terrible Condition
It was better to play in the rough than on the fairway. The course was in terrible shape and to charge that much for a round in the summer is horrendous. I would not recommend this course and will not be returning during the summer. Most of the "cart paths" were dirt and very few were paved throughout the course.
Terrible Condition
The course was in terrible condition. The rough was better to hit from than the fairway. The greens were OK, but not great and everywhere you drove was on dirt and bumpy car paths. For the price, it wasn’t worth the money.
Great staff, needs better directional signs on course
Didn't know where we were going from some greens to the next tee box. Had my wife with us so there was a couple of holes where the men's tees were not even close to the women's. Staff was awesome though. Still great value for summer rates.
It's Cave Creek what do you expect...
Wish the greens wouldn't be so slow and bumpy... New Cart's are good, but why not go with electric Golf Carts? In Europe it is even prohibited to use gas Golf Carts!
CC Muni
While the course has been fun to play in the past, it was being overseeded and the greens were "sanded" which made the round less than enjoyable, especially when charging the normal greens fees.
None of this information was made available prior to arrival and too late to opt out of the round.
Experience at Cave Creek Golf Course
Played Cave Creek in the afternoon for the reduced golf fee after 3pm.
Hit balls on the range. The tee box areas were ok. Its nice to hit shots with some grass on the tees.
It was a hot day so I expected the ball to roll farther due to hot weather and hard fairways. It is difficult to play when you hit a good drive but end up on hardpan for your second shot. With the hot weather, hardpan fairways is expected.
The greens were actually ok in the hot weather. Lots of undulations and gave a great challenge to get the ball inside the 5 ft circumference of the hole.
Sand bunkers could always use some good sand to hot a sand shot but this is a public course.
Overall I have no regrets playing Cave Creek. I will play again and when the winter months arrive I will check out the course conditions to see if the fairways get more grass fairway for approach shots.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They represented the course well.
The Cantina was good to get some drinks and food. The employees were friendly and polite
