About

Style Traditional
Par 72
Length 6732 yards
Slope 124
Rating 71.8

Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.

Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.

The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Staff friendly. Course not in great condition - depended on the hole. Ordering food from the cart set up did not work. Bring your own food and drink.

Bad greens

Greens are very inconsistent, one green has grass n fuzzy, the next green has very little grass with bare spots. Their greens need help!!!!

Needs a cart path.

I played this course as a single. Just wanted to get out on quick on a Thursday afternoon. Luckily I was paired with a couple of guys that had played there before or I would have had no idea where to go. In many places there was no cart path at all and the cart paths that are there, are very rough. I thought the screen on the cart was broken as it didn’t work until the 12th hole and then all the sudden it came on and asked if I wanted to order food. I wouldn’t use it anyway so it wasn’t a big deal.

The overall course wasn’t bad, I paid $56 with cart to play on a Thursday at 2:16pm. I think the rate is about $10 more than it should have been. Not having cart paths is ok, if there was better signage to point you in the right direction.

Muni Magic - Bring your short game

On Google earth you think this is going to be a cakewalk with short par 4s. When you play it you realize there are few flat lies to be found including on the greens, some of which have multiple breaks and tough sand protection. 14 of 18 greens were in great condition. Some dry spots on others. The wash has been recently cleaned and there are great wildflowers right now. The burger was fantastic and the breakfast burrito had a good review too. The value Is off the charts. It backs up on the par 3s, but where doesn’t it?

Great day for golf

The conditions were good, the weather was great and the pace of play on this day was excellent with a short wait on a couple of holes and no wait on most holes. In my experience this is above average for this course. Good value.

Fun Day of Golf however...

Great day of golf. Sunday was a great day to play, it was on the warm side but not bad with a slight breeze. Everything was going well however our cart died and we were stuck in the middle of the fairway. We called the number on the scorecard and the guy that answered said he wasn't on site and he will TRY and reach someone at the course to assist lol.. what a joke.. nobody showed. There were 2 groups on the tee box waiting to hit so we stood on the side and yelling at them that our cart was dead.. the group finally teed off and then pushed us to the club house.. that was so awesome of them to do that.. when i got there i asked the girl at the cart barn if she received a call and she said no.. unbelievable. Chimera needs to fix that ASAP..

Great Course for the Price

The course offers a wide array of challenges and forces players to make use of each club in the bag. ... however, the greens were much slower than anticipated. Pace of some players was slow. Overall would love to play again.

I liked it

I liked the layout of the course. And yes, you also get to enjoy a little golf cart off-road adventure at the same time. It's a full course, so you better know how to hit your driver, especially from the tips. The greens are large and challenging/ fast rolling. Just wish they would offer a few more discounts earlier in the day.

Where's the cart path?

1st time playing this course. Right away, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The layout is pretty cool but the condition of course is lacking and the cart path is about 25% completed, very strange to play a course without a cart path. Overall, a good value.

Good layout, good value

This is a good course and a great value for the Phoenix area in early April. I'd recommend it.

Very enjoyable course!

I loved the layout and course was in good shape. Definately not a flat course and has large, challenging greens. I'll definitely be back.. wish there were more deals earlier in the day.

Dirt Track

We’ve played several of the cheaper courses in the Phoenix area the past 2 weeks and this was by far the worst. The layout is confusing and it was like a construction zone if you weren’t on the fairways. The cart paths are mostly dirt and it was like off roading in a golf cart. The greens are tricky and gimmicky- surprisingly I only 3 putted twice. Good thing we got a discount on GN or I would be really upset if I paid top dollar.
