Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Distance between holes
This is a fun course to play. We walked the first 9 and decided to get a cart for the 2nd 9. There is quite a distance between most holes as well as being hilly. We will play it again.
Long time away
Haven’t played here in 9 years. Parking lot and driveway improved! Good grass on range. Greens in good shape. Fairways too! Some bunkers have too much sand. Balls bury. But better than rock hard bunkers with no sand, which I’ve experienced in other courses in the area. Pace could be a little better. Friendly staff.
First outdoor round in months
Great pace of play, course was in descent shape and the golfers I played with were friendly and easy to play with

I like the course, no real supervision or any rangers to keep the pace going! I wish they could put some effort in the grounds, especially the cart paths
Hacking It Around
First time playing the course. The welcome upon arrival made me feel very welcome. The course layout provided a different challenge on each hole. Fairways had lots of undulations providing challenges to keep the ball in the fairway. The greens rolled well & were in good shape. The superintendent put the pins in some very precarious places but it was a club tournament that day. Really good value for $100 or less.
OK course, but nothing special
Greens and fairways are OK, rough is dead grass or dirt - and very hard packed, so quite a few nasty bounces. A few interesting holes, but lots of boring ones. Love the finisher on 18.
The greatest game we play
I enjoy getting 18 in at Cave Creek. The starter keeps the groups in good spirit teeing off. Keeping the ball in the fairway in paramount. The roughs are thin, hard lies and requires a good pass. The sand in the bunkers were good ( hit 2 bunkers )
The greens are undulating and were rolling nice.

Decent conditions, slow pace of play
The overall course and greens conditions were solid, bunkers also in great condition. However pace of play was pretty poor, Took over 3 and a half hours to play 14 holes. We tee’d off at 2:30 in January so didn’t really expect to get a full 18 in anyways with daylight but we would have liked to at least get 16 holes in. Also didn’t see the snack cart once in the almost 4 hour round we played. We were able to get snacks and food on the turn and they were super pleasant and very quick. Food was good too and the $6 hot dog deal is pretty great
Needs help
The course is okay in the fairways and greens, terrible in the rough and there are very limited cart paths and they are in lousy shape.
5 Hours
Not a single Marshall or cart girl in sight. The walkers take their time and nobody tells them anything. WILL NOT LLAY HERE AGAIN.
