About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Good Value Golf
Whilst the course was a 'little scruffy' - particularly the cart paths - the playing areas were well maintained. Greens were slow and a little lumpy but it was an extremely enjoyable experience and GREAT value for money. There are courses which charge 5 times the price I paid but they are certainly not 5 times better. Well done to the Cave Creek team.
Harder than it looks
At first blush, course appears to be vast, open and can’t go wrong…..If you stayed on the fairways you were ok;the ruff😬was the ruff and a challenge to get out of with a good shot.By the end of the day, I played to my handicap but expected better and didn’t get it.it’s more challenging than you think….

Weather wet. Course rough
It was raining, off and on, most of the day.
Don't expect good carry with conditions this tough.
Biggest complaint about the course was the: 1) golf cart that was very slow with no punch for hills, 2) ground was very rough, even cart paths were in terrible shape especially across the ravine but everywhere, in general.
Tees were in good shape as were most of the greens.
Should have stopped playing after 5 holes when it started to rain. What a nuisance, covering and uncovering clubs, keeping seat wiped off and trying to stay dry. Finished front nine and stopped to dry off and have a bite at the cafe. Rain let up, so I continued on for 5 holes on the back nine. Then rain started up again. Waited under a couple trees for about 20 minutes but rain didn't abate so I quit and made for the clubhouse. While weather was refreshing, golfing wasn't worth the time nor $ spent.

The course is in terrible shape. The cart paths were mud and stone. We would not play it again.

Over all value
For a municipal golf course it is a good value course, has some rather rough spots in the fairways, but the greens are in really good shape. Overall layout of course is good, not real challenging but a fun course.

Not what I thought
This course is on track with a poor municipal course. Course in fair condition, and pace of play was very slow. Is highly overpriced for what you are getting. Made a mistake of booking this course. Would not recommend.

Awesome staff!
Great experience!! Even though the pace was slow, we were able to find shade to wait at almost every teebox!! The fairways were in great shape and there’s the perfect amount of varying terrain to make it a challenging course. Can’t wait to play here again.

Information is Key
The staff was very nicer. Sadly the course, cart path, and tee boxes are completely lacking. Greens have been recently punched, there was no warning for this, at all.
