About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Cave Creeek
The course was in decent shape. The fairways were a bit fuzzy, but not bad. The greens were odd. They were very fast and firm. Pace of play was just a little over 4 hours, so not terrible. The carts need some work. I wasn't sure mine was going to make it. It barely went faster than someone walking.

Shouldn't let people out with major storm in the area, I paid for 5 holes full price.

Disappointing
Terrible pace of play. No water. No cooler on cart. No beverage cart. Golf car felt like it was screaming when I hit the gas. Tee boxes were..ehhhhh. Fairways were ehhhhhh and greens were like putting on a blanket.

Unpolished gem
Visiting the area, my friend (a local) and I played his club and another high end course. One day we needed a time and booked Cave Creek (not actually in Cave Creek). I was surprised at the quality of the design. It is a great use of the contours of the wash in which it is located. The greens were in transition, so not very good. But we talked about how if they were at full speed, they could be seriously challenging. It is a muni, so they have to keep the price down. But the design is really good and there is a real variety of holes. Very much enjoyed, great bargain, would play it again.

Great muni
Like the layout, but the greens were brutally slow.- the slowest I’ve ever played. Really effected the score. Hope they can correct

Good day, it was hot, but the sad part was no water on the course other than drinking fountains with hot water and a color that water should not look like. No drink cart and plenty of signs that you aren't allowed to bring anything not bought from the course.

Good Value Golf
Whilst the course was a 'little scruffy' - particularly the cart paths - the playing areas were well maintained. Greens were slow and a little lumpy but it was an extremely enjoyable experience and GREAT value for money. There are courses which charge 5 times the price I paid but they are certainly not 5 times better. Well done to the Cave Creek team.

Harder than it looks
At first blush, course appears to be vast, open and can’t go wrong…..If you stayed on the fairways you were ok;the ruff😬was the ruff and a challenge to get out of with a good shot.By the end of the day, I played to my handicap but expected better and didn’t get it.it’s more challenging than you think….

Weather wet. Course rough
It was raining, off and on, most of the day.
Don't expect good carry with conditions this tough.
Biggest complaint about the course was the: 1) golf cart that was very slow with no punch for hills, 2) ground was very rough, even cart paths were in terrible shape especially across the ravine but everywhere, in general.
Tees were in good shape as were most of the greens.
Should have stopped playing after 5 holes when it started to rain. What a nuisance, covering and uncovering clubs, keeping seat wiped off and trying to stay dry. Finished front nine and stopped to dry off and have a bite at the cafe. Rain let up, so I continued on for 5 holes on the back nine. Then rain started up again. Waited under a couple trees for about 20 minutes but rain didn't abate so I quit and made for the clubhouse. While weather was refreshing, golfing wasn't worth the time nor $ spent.
