About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Many t boxes and certain areas on course only had dead grass. Better effort could be taken to seed critical area’s.

Nice Layout But...
Nice layout but the course could use some tender loving care. Nice fairways but the rough could be really rough hardpan or worse. More enjoyable if you stay in the fairway. Will probably play again as a last option.

Tough pin placements
Nice conditions, although pin placements were for the professionals. Most of the greens were very sloped with the pin placed either at the bottom of the slope or in the middle. Very hard to even two putt these greens. Being a single, the guys I was teamed up with made for a most enjoyable round.

course overview
The course itself is good however it is not marked very well for directions to holes and they criscross alot. There is not much of a golf cart path and if there is it's gravel no cocrete or aspalt cart path.

Rough
Course is okayyyyyyy for greens and fairways . Everything else is very very tough .

Rough
Greens and fairways nice. Everything else is very tough . Narrow fairways with extremely rough and rocky . No cart paths to speak of and bathroom was an outhouse on 7 . Not good.

Nice municipal course
The course was in very good condition from tee boxes to the greens. Even the bunkers were nicely raked ; most had soft sand which seems to be a rarity these days. We started around 1:30 and finished at 5pm. The hot deal price was very reasonable for this time of year. It is a nice challenging course for all skill levels.

Improvements
The clubhouse bathroom remodel is great. Course conditions were good with the exception of a couple greens where some kind of maintenance accident caused thin strips of dead grass across the green.

First Time
Decided to try Cave Creek Golf course.I was pleasantly surprised by the good condition of fairways and most greens in mid-January. The back nine is more interesting and challenging than the front. I'll return to play again.

Landfill course
Cart paths are in rough shape. Fairways are decent. Greens are not to bad for a city course. Huge wash in the middle of the course. Stay out to that!
