About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Lots of other courses to select.
Slow pace but Rangers did nothing to move folks along. Just sat in shade.
Cart paths do not exist, just dirt and rocks. Many fairways in extremely poor condition.

It’s sometimes hard to tell the difference from the cart path and the fairways.

Cave Creek for the First time
The course was really fun. Some great holes with very challenging greens. I would definitely play it again even though the pace of play was really slow. I took about 4.5 hours to play the course.

Challenging Muni
Good layout with challenging shots and greens. Course in very good condition and well maintained. Good value for winter golf in Phx.

Don’t expect much.
I was paired up with a nice couple who dropped off after the front nine. And then another nice couple on the back. We were behind a group that were obviously in no hurry. Between fishing for balls and just taking forever to hit shots it was hard to keep any momentum going. Would have been nice if a marshal would have sped them up. Nearly a 5 hour round. I guess for $60 it was good practice. But probably won’t play it again.

Course was in great shape, haven’t played this course since Covid started, they have done a lot of work out there and it really shows

One of the best values in Phoenix/Scottsdale
This is one of the hidden jewels with some interesting holes including one of the best risk/reward par 5 holes I’ve played. Not country club/Troon conditions, but good enough for an enjoyable experience; What can you expect for $50 in April. Both times we played it we got a good twilight rate and got off early. It seems to attract casual players who tend to be no shows opening times to move up last minute.

Upgraded
The facility has been upgraded. The parking lot has been paved, the washrooms updated and it looks like a new irrigation system was added. However the fairways on holes 7,8 and nine needs work.
Overall, the course layout and well kept greens, makes it a fun coarse to play

Terrible condition
Other than passable greens, this course is a disaster from tee boxes, fairways, and bunkers. The only thing missing were the goats.

Pretty good round
Played with a local who gave us very good course knowledge since we hadn't played here in 6 years. Never was pushed by anyone behind us. Fun and challenging course. Loved that there weren't that many houses along the course.
