About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

The course is decent for a municipal course.
Only thing missing was the beverage cart. It would be nice to add coolers on the carts with ice to help keep golfers hydrated. Course condition was good, I thought the greens were slow compared to other courses I recently played in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Overall good value for the price.

Rain has helped the course, which has made the course nice and green. Greens were just punched, so another 10 days and putting will be good. Good value, challenging greens and layouts of the holes. Usually very busy on the weekends. Make your tee times in advance.

Cave Creek Play
While a little rough around the edges, overall, a good challenge—a change from many of the often flat courses around the valley. Beverage cart could make more frequent tours around —especially on hot days (only saw the cart ONCE in 18 holes). Cart paths are very rough and inconsistent. Greens and traps are much better than many in the area, such Orange Tree Resort. For a City course, a fun tract.

No bueno
Horrible long and fuzzy greens. Impossible to even put on. Tee boxes and fairways were mostly filled in, but not maintained l. No on course amenities and the driving range didn’t have a flat spot to hit off of. Hard pass ans go somewhere else

Fun course
I enjoy playing cave creek, has few challenging holes. For a city course it’s great. For the money it’s a great deal.
