About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Saddly
Poor greens, poor fairways, too many $ to play a course in this poor of condition. I will let mine friend Golfers know how disappointing the City or County keeps the course.

Okay for the cost
The worst part of this course is the driving range. There’s almost no grass to hit off and all the slots are on some obscure angle. The track itself was ok. Tee boxes were mostly well kept. Fairways were decent, not an abundance of dry, dead spots. Greens had been aerated recently so hard to judge their true quality. Bunkers had plenty of sand and mostly well groomed. Booked as a non resident for about $40/player, probably wouldn’t play here again for that cost but would play again for $20-30.

recovering from aeration
The greens are recovering from aeration nicely. They are still a little long, slow and bumpy. You just have to hit a firm putt and remember that there will be hardly any break. Fairways were ok. There were some burnt out spots which is common in summer time. Still very playable. Pace was outstanding! We cruised through without having to wait.

Course was bad.
Not a flat tee box on the whole course.
Everything was so dry.
The greens were so dry it was extremely difficult to putt, chipping was impossible, club bounces off the ground like your hitting concrete.

Value and good conditions from tee to green
Started just before 11:00 a.m. wasn't slowed until back nine on hole 12 where play lagged behind 2 groups. Was playing as a single on back nine. Joined group ahead on invitation and continued for 2 holes before playing again as a single when space allowed moving ahead.
Finished in under 3 hours.

Good pace of play...
Surprising pace of play. Needed under 3 hours for 18 holes. Played from the blue tees. Course is pretty fair. Greens are o.k.. Pin position's quite tricky - so 3 putted 4xtimes and had only 2 birdies. Cave Creek is what it is.
Maybe they should invest in some form of paved card path! For the money I paid it was great!

Ranger at Jellystone does a better job
Pace of play was ridiculous. The Ranger drove by at least twice with 2-3 groups backed up on the tees.

Course was in good shape most of the greens roll nicely. A couple were a little burnt out. Great value for the price. Will be playing there again soon

Cave Creek
The course overall is in reasonable shape. The fairways are decent and the greens are fast. the location of the holes adds to the challenge. Keeping in mind that this is a city course, the layout with the canyon like drop offs and the placement of the water holes make it fun.
Where this course falls short is in its overall Upkeep. The lower price makes it enticing to fixed income crowd, however the need to repair and pave the cart paths would save on the pounding the carts take. the pro shop and eatery could use an upgrade as well.. This course could surely be a gem with a little investment.
