About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Great Saturday!
Fairways and greens in great shape. Always a good time, this course is never boring. I call this my home course.
Really hated it
It was a mess of a day. No shade in the parking areas, the guys in the pro shop were more interested in their discussion about a club than serving the client standing there, the directions to a first timer were short and terse. The course is set on hills with lots of little pools of water often out of view, very targeted golf with many blind shots, caught up with a couple of excellent players and we got behind a foursome who refused to let us play through. I quit after 9 holes in total disgust with the whole thing. Won't be back and i am sure they could care less.

Greens and fairways
Greens are in good shape the fairways have some pretty rough spots, but over all not too bad.

Nice staff, course really poor shape
Again, friendly staff. Course in horrible shape. Cart in poor condition had to turn it in before it broke down.

Cave Creek
This course is average for a city course. I could, however be so much better. It is challenging with some unique twists. The City needs to spend some money to upgrade. The fairways are good but have some bare spots. The bunkers could use some sand. The greens are fast and challenging. The cart paths are the worst. they are mostly unpaved and in rough shape.
It is an ok course to play overall. The pro shop has little to offer and I did not use the canteen.

Decent course, nothing special but good value. Greens could be better (ver slow) or at least more consistent (it would play slow slow slow then fast - a little frustrating).

OK course in fair condition. I would play it again if it was closer to where I live. I rate Papa Go much higher and it is closer to me.

Pace of play and greens
4:50 round on a Sunday, teeing off at 11 am. Tough time to play real fast, but 4:15 or 4:20 should be possible. We never saw a ranger the entire day.
Cave Creek greens have always been odd, going back to when the course was first built in the mid 80’s. So much of the course has settled that multiple pin placements are just ridiculously impossible. Put that together with a few greens that have little to no grass on them (#9 was the worst) and I’m not sure how you are supposed to approach the hole.
It is a good layout, but the green situation is making the place borderline unplayable.

Cave Creek
The overall course was very good. A little Slow pace but not too bad. The weather and course conditions were excellent. Teamed up with some nice people. Dele not use the amenities, but the pro shop was lacking.

Found this to be a typical municipal course as to the agronomy and course conditions. It is a good layout and pleasing to the eye from the tee boxes.

Course suffering due to extremely dry weather. LIKE the layout. Greens are a little bumpy due to Poa Annua encroachment. I will play again.
