Encanto Golf Course

Encanto 18 is a great old municipal course. Wide open fairways and gettabke greens. Nothing at all hard about the course. It should be easy Swift play. But the group in front of us thought they were play in the U.S. Open, evidently. Each one of those four guys how to pre-shot routine that delivered bad shots routinely. The course needs a Ranger to go out and hustle people along. Thank goodness they had a young lady to sell us beverages.

A little sand in the bunkers would go a long way. Nothing but dirt.

Very limited cart selection as far as beverages go., inside staff was very matter of fact, offered nothing extra.

This is an older course with no elevation changes so it is very easy to walk and we seen many doing just that! Located in a nice park setting of Encanto Regional Park area. We had frost delay - yea, go figure! Anyway the course was in nice shape except for the sand traps which were like concrete and impossible to get a good shot out. Pace was good once we got going. Good practice area and there are some nice views of the city.

Had a good time and played 18 holes in just over four hours.

Encanto was in very good condition and the greens were superb.

The bunkers are dirt, and greens are fast. Fringe and rough are mowed short, so approach shots easily roll off the greens. Fairways are open with few hazards or bunkers. An otherwise nice day was marred by waits on every hole.

I would have really liked to enjoy the course as it was in fine condition, BUT I quit after 9 holes after being out there for 2 hours and 40 minutes. On Hole #5(Par 3) 3 groups were backed up waiting for another group to finish the hole.

Greens are faster than last time played. Course in great shape.

No amenities for after golf refreshments!

No food or beverages except from the cart girl. I think the clubhouse kitchen is going through a renovation. Otherwise nice course, especially for the price. Staff were very friendly.

Headlines Good value at $35; quick greens; good fairways; straightforward fair layout; slow play.

We arrived on time and were greeted nicely by the pro shop staff. Decent grass range and good chipping/putting area.

Had a 10am start and thought the course was going to be quiet. Sadly I hadn't spotted the tournament ahead of us which had a very slow back-marker group who lost two holes on their field. From holes 2 to 15 we stood waiting on every shot which was a shame since it took the edge of what would have been a very enjoyable round. The back-markers walked off at 15 and we played the last three holes in 25 minutes giving an overall round time of 4.15.

Tee boxes, fairways and greens all in good shape. Being from the UK, we're still getting used to the sight of bright green over-seeded fairways cutting through yellow rough - still it's pretty clear where you're supposed to hit the ball! Mid-sized greens in very nice condition, running at about 12 with a nice mix of borrows and flat putts. A few old pitch marks, but for a muni - not too bad.

Bunkers did have sand and were playable, but it's hard to know what the bunkers were really like as they had been soaked into "wet cement" texture by the heavy rain. Not much one can do about that.

The course is wide open with no rough and scattered trees As a place to visit regularly it would best suit higher handicappers looking to build confidence in their game. This is not meant to talk down the course, which has enough long par fours to interest the lower handicap player on a casual visit. Combine this with great views over downtown Phoenix and a $35 price tag and you get a nice day out.

There was quite a lot of casual water on fairways following heavy rain and personally I thought it a mistake to allow carts on fairways as you could see clear ruts forming where golfers had not bothered to steer round the wet areas.

Nice cart lady who we saw at least four times during the round. Did not visit the clubhouse.

Ball washers on every tee, which was useful since the wet ground created a lot of mud balls.

Haven’t played here in over 5 years. Course is great. Staff is wonderful. Will definitely be back to play sooner than later.

This course is flat and pretty wide open. Not alot of trouble to get into. Fairways in good shape, greens also prettty good. Nice sunny day for the most part, clouds rolled in for about 3 holes. The price was right. Great place to play in the winter when the rates are up at other courses.

the greens were lightning fast and true, the complete opposite for the pace. No ranger and several holes there were 4 groups waiting on one hole. Every par three was a 20 minute wait to hit the ball. Then to add insult no food cart and your only choice for food and drink is in the pro shop. Pack a lunch playing this course

Been playing Encanto for 30 years. Always liked the course, not tough but a nice way to spend a day out. Good places to eat in the area.

Course is in as good of shape as I have ever seen it and that's all I am going to say.

Haven't played Encanto since last year. I believe the course is in better condition. The greens are good and were fast. Pace of play was about average, playing as a foursome in about 4 hours.

Went for a refreshment at the Mulligan Restaurant but it wasn't open! '

The staff was helpful with pointing out a nearby establishment.

On the plus side there was an ice machine and soft drinks in the ProShop.

Will return again...maybe sooner that a year.

Not the toughest coarse but very nice.played in 3 hrs (4some) clubhouse guys and starter were great. See you again,soon

I loved this course, wide generous fairways which were green by the way, greens were very receptive despite the scorching heat. nice to have water stations around the course, old school type of course with lots of palm trees and some water on a few holes.not terribly difficult but fun..if you hit a stray tee shot most of the holes are forgiving and you still have a shot at the green. Highly recommened..

Course was in great shape for being hot as it is. Fair price. Good layout
