Palmbrook Golf Club
About
The golf course at the Palmbrook Golf Club (formerly known as Palmbrook Country Club) has a reputation for being immaculately well kept. The course's greens and fairways are consistently kept in excellent condition making the course enjoyable to play. In addition to the spotless maintenance, the course at the Palmbrook Golf Club has a challenging design that incorporates water hazards in the form of a meandering brook and six lakes on the back nine. The challenging greens are fast and hard to read. There are also several bunkers that can affect play. Four sets of teeboxes provide different options.

Palmbrook
Good layout and good condition. Have played Palmbrook several times in past 3-5 years. Always have enjoyed my time there.
Typical Sun City course
Fairly typical of the Sun City courses…. Nothing really “bad”, but nothing really inspiring either. As with most SC courses we’ve played….
- the staff is welcoming and accommodating
- the course layout is rather boring
- pace of play, compared to course difficulty, is ridiculously slow
- law of supply and demand results in overpriced golf
- greens are generally in good shape, fairways not so much - rough is terrible
Very Average
Course layout was OK, conditions were OK, pace was just over 4 hours but after waiting on the first tee for the foursome in front of us to get on the green, we still waited on every hole to tee off. Not a great deal but reasonable. Cart was kind of wonky starting off each time also.
First Time Impressions
First time playing there from the East Valley. Tee boxes needed some TLC; fairways were fairly firm, though some sparseness in grass density. sand traps (all) were shallow in depth, making it a challenge to escape consistently; greens were uneven in pace and very bouncy (greens need to be rolled); rough was dormant grass, if any. Pace of play was OK (4:15 hours), but did finally move along on the last 5 holes. Value was reasonable (as compared with the significant price uptick that many courses deem justified around the time of the WM/Phoenix Open). Easy walking course, which I did.
I' ve bean to this golf club for about 2 years , but it was
1:30 pm ,on january 18th of tee off time , and I, organized myself as a single with 3. 9 in hole players however .
after the first tee box . the game stopped and i. came home without playing a game I.m so angry. I.m asian
that i was ignored a lot for my lack of english . I didn 't
return the money , and ldidn't even givea chance to
Play again, l think this very neglectful and blasphemy
of me, l , don' t want to go there again !!!!
Overpriced
This is the second time I’ve played this course, and I liked it even less this time. The pace of play was absolutely terrible with too many old golfers with no golf etiquette at all. Conditions on the course were below average. The owner of this course has other courses in the area of much better value. Don’t waste your time here. The experience was not worth $81, even in January.
Way to many walkers
Been playing the course for over 15 years and the worst I’ve seen it with the walkers pace. The pace was horrible. The last three or four times I played it there’s been walkers ahead of us. There was also two singles in two carts and two walkers together on a busy Sunday.
Hi Vince - Thank you for your review. Few things are more important to us than pace of play, so I'm disappointed to hear this has lately been your experience.
We're committed to making things better, and I promise we'll continue to work at it.
We hope one day you'll want to return and you'll find things have improved. We'll keep at it no matter what.
All the best
The Palmbrook Team
Really enjoyed it
Palmbrook seems to have made a lot of progress the last few months: the course looks better than I've seen in a long time and the greens roll true. The pro shop seems to care about pace of play and it showed: I played on a Sunday and still finished in just under 4 hours. Enjoyed a few beers with buddies on the patio after the round: despite being quite busy, restaurant staff was professional and friendly.
Solid Course
An enjoyable round by all of us. Greens were is great shape, fairways were fine, tee boxes and bunkers were OK. The dormant bermuda rough was pretty thin and the ground was damp but nothing unexpected. The meandering concrete creek on the back nine was dry but all of the ponds had plenty of water.Greens were moderately sloped with some subtle breaks and rolled at a moderate speed. Friendly staff including beverage cart. No ball washers on the course.
As slow as molasses in January
I had high hopes of a good place to play until the round got going. Two and a half hours for the front 9 and I had enough. Player assistant on the course, but that obviously was of no help. And as seems common at Sun City courses some muppet hits through us on 2 of the first 3 holes with the old dumb as a box of rocks comment of that is 40 yards father than I ever hit it in my life. Muni-mentality sadly.
Typical Sun City Course
The course is the usual Sun City style course and conditions. A fairly flat layout with a few narrow tree corridors on the front nine and fairway side bunkering within reach off the tee. Good, straight drives should leave you in good shape on most holes. The fairways were reasonably good; the greens were all grown out and consistent. Bunkers were in decent sand conditions.
Very average but a nice value
Pace of play was excellant - right at 3 hr 45 min. Course layout is OK, condition was OK, staff was very friendly and helpful. For what we paid, it was a very good value.
Nice course
The course is in good shape. The greens are immaculate but very fast. The lakes and stream area have a bit if a foul odor. We enjoyed the round and the staff is great.
Fun Course
Fairly easy layout. Tricky greens. All and all good course.
Questions about New Ownership
Looks like new ownership is making club worse. Rough looks like Hillcrest (dead grass and dirt). Carts are worse, no GPG in a lot of carts, and old Union Hills carts. Higher prices for less. No more free range balls. And, even took out popcorn machine in Bar.
