The Sun City South Golf Course is normally a private club but during the summer months, public play is allowed. The course has a traditional layout with four sets of teeboxes for a variety of different golfing options, which allow golfers to work on a range of different handicaps. The golf course has a fair share of challenges with several sand bunkers and plenty of trees scattered throughout. There are also out-of-bounds stakes providing more difficulty. Water hazards come into play on some holes as well. The Sun City South Golf Course facility has a putting green and chipping area for golfers to use in addition to the course.

Struggling to recover

Played several times lately but course is not rebounding from heat. They're aerating, leaving giant holes everywhere. Overwatering isn't helping. Some fairways, like hole 9, are only playable on one half or the other. Grass vs dirt.

This particular round they put every pin in a position I've never seen before. Usually close to the edge or on a slope.

Not a very "recreational" setup.

Staff is great, very friendly and helpful.

Despite the heat, it’s still in good condition

The hardest part about playing golf in Phoenix during the summer is the heat. It’s a good idea to use a cart, but with enough hydration it can be walked. There is a lot of distance between some holes. The course was in good condition. There are some barren areas, but they tend to be off the fairways. The greens are fast and very good.

Fairways

Some Fairways are in rough condition dead spots. Greens are ok. Nice layout not a hard course a little water on the Fairways and they will be ok. Typical SC course

Donny V

This is a perfect example of you get what you pay for. I have grown up in Arizona and come to realize that the older courses especially in Sun City are economically better during the summer. I was shocked that the cost of this round was close to $50. What really concerns me is an extra $20 for the cart which makes this course absolutely too much money to pay for.

Fun track but….

This is a fun course but the fairways are burnt out, dead grass. Greens are nice and hold.

Easy, fun course

Really enjoyed this course, even though the fairways are rough we’re quite sparse. The greens were good though. The course is wide open so expect a good score!

Disappointed

On vacation in Phoenix have played numerous course over the years in the Sun City area never charged $20 for a cart not even in NY. Found the check in person to be rude and uncaring and not thrilled that we used golfnow. I would not play there again

Ranger

The ranger kept heckling us to hurry up when we had to wait at the tee box. He also said that we can’t share clubs halfway through the round and made us pay for rentals.

Good course: challenging but not brutal like others in the Valley

Course was fun. It is in good shape, with well maintained, very fast greens. Can be played very long and challenging from the tips or can be more forgiving and manageable from the forward tees. Be advised that with Golf Now be prepared to pay extra for the cart - it is not included in the fee. You have been warned.
