Union Hills Golf & Country Club
About
The golf course at the Union Hills Country Club is a championship course with a traditional layout. The course has been named one of the Top Ten Private Courses in Arizona. The design features four lakes and two winding creeks that create water hazards that come into play on a few holes. There are also several sand bunkers present. Some of the golf course's greens are elevated and the fairways are average sized in width. The signature hole is the par-4 14th hole, which requires a carry over water. Union Hills Country Club also has a putting green and full driving range for golfers to use.

Rough condition
We had a decent round of golf for the first time playing Union Hills. The course staff were friendly, but course was in pretty rough condition. The staff in the club house did say the are short handed and warned us the course is in a little rough shape; between seasonal transition and not having enough grounds workers.
Over pack the course with people on top of other golfer. Staff not to friendly. No club house to go inside to use the restroom. Out side bar and grill. Hot dogs burnt. After a early tee off time could not wait to get out of the run down course.
Wouldn’t play Union for a few months
I used to love playing here until this past weekend. $45 for a dog track of a course. So sad to see how they have ran this course into the ground. Won’t be back for a few months.
Not sure what’s happened to this course
Stopped playing here a couple months ago because of the deteriorating conditions. Since we’ve had decent rain the past month I thought I’d give it a try again. Still terrible. I played a Sunday and nothing was cut: tee boxes, rough, etc. Holes beat up - looked like they hadn’t been changed. Greens have always been smooth and fast - not any more. Maintenance is almost non-existent.
Great time
The course is in good shape for this time of year played 18 holes in 3.5 hours Staff was awesome
Fairways and Rough
The fairways were cut to an easily playable depth, but some fairways had several mixed grass types.
The rough was deep in places, and needed to be cut to a reasonable level.
Greens were very nice. Not super fast, just right.
Garbage
This course is garbage at best. Played this course at the beginning of the year and it was decent. Went today, August 9th and it was awful. The guy pulling up carts was nice. The guy in the shop had no personality. The course was absolutely terrible. The tee boxes were half weeds. The fairways were dead. Whoever is changing the cups must be doing it with a butter knife. They are sloppy uneven and they can’t fill the old holes. Trees need cut and the front entrance looks likes it’s abandoned. I wouldn’t pay $12 to play this course.
Would be nice to have some water station every 2 to 3 holes. Overall I think a good value
Marshall is Terrible; Only Reason I’ll Never Cone Back
My dad and I are from out of town playing with a friend that is local and has played this course before. It’s late July so it’s hot and not many players out on the course and we haven’t seen a single group behind us for all of the front 9. We make the turn, get a couple drinks and some food, the concession lady was amazing and friendly. We take our time since we had decent pace of play and hadn’t seen any groups behind us, so we tee off on hole 10 and the Marshall comes up and tells us we are behind pace of play and we only have 2.5 hours left to finish 9 holes because the course closes at 3pm. It is wild to me a course would close at 3pm and we were not told this when we signed up online or checked in or at the concessions. Regardless, the Marshall proceeds to chew up 10 minutes arguing and claiming 3 hours is pace of play and that wherever he’s played, all the way including Wisconsin, this has been the rules. If you’ve ever played golf, you know pace of play for 18 is not 3 hours. My friend has also played here many times and stated no Marshall has ever kicked players off at 3 and that had never been a rule and the Marshall replied with “well you’ve never been here when I’ve been working” which is apparently a blessing. Maybe the course is better but this guy just completely ruined the experience for all of us.
Rainy Day at Union Hills CC
Overcast skies, nice cool morning for a change and no one in front of us or behind us. Great round, in under 3 and a half hours! The course was in decent shape but I have to say the greens were a little slow and needed a haircut! I get it though as I am sure they were just punched a couple of weeks ago.
Union Hills Country Club
Fairways were terrible. You could get a better lie in the ruff. Greens were good. Looked like they have a watering problem. Very disappointing.
Misleading description
The description of a ‘semi-private, …’ course was misleading. This is a tired course in the middle of a retirement community that’s seem much better days!
The pro shop closed at 11 (on a Friday!), the water (fridge) and ice chest were padlocked and a single regular we ran into recommended not to drink the water from the tap or on the course!!! The course was literally empty except for a slow foursome in front of us two with poor golf etiquette who wouldn’t let us play through so we skipped a hole to avoid a longer-than-necessary round in 110+ degree heat. With some TLC this course be a nice track but as it is now, it’s not one I would recommend.
Decent course for the price
Played here for the first time. The course was in decent shape for the time of year. Some of the tee boxes were more like playing from the fringe, and some greens were dried out. But overall a good course.
