Riverview Golf Course

Love Riverview! It’s in pretty good shape for mid April after all the snowbirds have played the heck out of it. Lol. I’m a snowbird as well, so I am not speaking out of town. That’s why so many of us come here.

Nice people but a very average course. Odd policy of scheduling 5-somes at the club's discretion which doesn't help the pace of play. Bunkers had too little sand and were not well maintained. A real so-so experience.

Riverview is my favorite of all of the Sun City courses. Sometimes a group of players who are either new or just rude, taint the golf experience by very slow play. Since there are no rangers on the course, the pace of play, all to often, turns into a 5 hour round— not good!

Went off as a fivesome behind a foursome that was as slow as a snail. They were so slow our fivesome waited on every shot and it took over four hours to play.

It was pretty windy but I know they can’t control that ! It was a nice afternoon of golf !

It had been so long since I played this course I almost started my round on the 10th hole. Glad they switched the front and back 9 since the sun was brutal with the old configuration.

Had a fun day overall even though I spent a lot of my round in the beach. This was okay though since the bunkers were well groomed. Only problem was the time my ball landed in a Coyote foot print and was a half inch below the sand. Just my luck.

Staff was very courteous. Honored Golf Now pricing. Plenty of carts available. Didn’t get up charged. Experienced none of the problems listed in the bad reviews. Maybe because I played in the early morning or because I’m a little older and treat others with respect.

If I had do nitpick I’d say the course was a little dry and the ball seemed to run if you got off fairway a little. Practice greens were a bit shaggy and didn’t give an accurate read on the course greens. Saw a group of 5 playing with each member of the group in their own personal cart. Looked like a parade on the fairway. Group ahead was high handicap and playing the tips. Group behind must have been playing the ladies or senior tees because they were hitting into us off the tees while we were on the green. That last part isn’t true, they were just hitting bombs off the tips.

Hard to imagine a course cares about anything other than the bottom line when the send a Fivesome out ahead of you… the cart didn’t work well at all. I had push down on the forward reverse lever every time to get it to move… pace was slow… seriously slow…

Overall the course was what you would expect for the price. I had a good time with my group. Greens were decent, fairways were nice as well.

I guess with the uptick in demand the course was packed. There were fivesomes starting on the front and the back. Waited a lot. Overall conditions were good. Rough was a little scraggly.

Afternoon rate is great. We finished the 18hole round after several golfers in front of us and playing along with us dropped off after the 9th hole. Overall it was satisfying.
