Course in great shape
Nice track, pretty predictable for a links course but well taken care of. My only complaint was no cart girl and no USB ports in the carts? Other than this fun day with the family.
Good Sunday
Booked late Saturday evening , a little confusion on my reservation but it was found.
Was paired with a two-some and hit it off guys. Had a good round and enjoyed the company. Beverages were fairly priced at the clubhouse/ dining room was very nice.
Will look to play here again.
A great day
From the people checking in at the pro shop to the course conditions and pace of play this was an outstanding day for me! We have had a really hot summer and many courses "heat stress" out and have bare spots and plenty of hard pan. I found none of that at Oakwood. The tee boxes, fairways, rough and greens were in fantastic shape. I had not played here in many many years and am glad I did. I hope to return soon.
Fine, not great
Weekend rate around $50 not bad and general conditions good. Nothing fantastic, especially for south Chandler area great customer service outside of club house. Dude at clubhouse bar had an inflated ego. Not as good as he thinks he is. No beverage cart on a 100+ weekend. That needs to be addressed. Gas carts old and jerky. Bad brake locks. Fairways and tee boxes fine. Greens good, not fantastic. Very good pace for mid morning start on Sunday. Just get the vibe the residents think they are at a better setting then they really are. Ocotillo and whirlwind are much, much better aside from decor at this clubhouse.
Fun course to play. Plenty of green grass that offers decent lies.
My only concern was the small rocks that get tossed onto the green from players hitting their shots out of the greenside bunkers. One of my playing partners mentioned the upcoming renovation on the Lakes course will be addressing this issue with better sand.
Great Course!
First let me state the course was in amazing condition, I’ve paid double at other courses for them to be junk. Oakwood is great, but my only issue is the clubhouse employee. Not sure what his problem was, maybe because my group looks younger than we are or what. His attitude off the bat was unwelcoming & distasteful, which continue every time we saw him throughout the day. The price & course would be the only things bringing me back not the customer service.
Outstanding Course
Check in was flawless. Course conditions were outstanding tee to green. Eddie in the Pro Shop is the best in the business. I played as a single and finished in under three hours. Unfortunately, I left my brand new Callaway Jaws wedge on the 5th green of the Sonoran Course and called the Pro Shop in a panic. Eddie advised me a member had found it and turned it in. It was there when I finished. I tried to offer a reward, but Eddie explained to me that's how it works at Oakwood Golf course. Very classy and I am very thankful!! Thanks for a great afternoon.
Great round at Oakwood!
Just want to give a shout to Eddy and the entire staff at Oakwood Golf Club. From the first step on the property we were greeted with warm welcomes and directions as to where to get our round started.
This course was is great condition and played at a wonderful pace that allow us to maintain a sub 4 hour pace.
I strongly urge anyone in the Valley who value/ hospitality and great conditions to check this place out.
Worth the drive
I played the Palms/Sonoran route. Inside staff was friendly and the starter was even better. From the practice putting green to the tee boxes, the fairways, and the greens were all very good. The holes go through a housing community as well as desert areas. So if you go right or left you can get into trouble. Would definitely go back.
Very well kept track
There was a tournament in the morning so the afternoon tee times were all shotgun start at 1:00 pm. A lot of confusion around that time. We teed off about 1:20. After that it was fine. Course was in good shape. No beverage cart was out so that was not good. Overall worth the money that day.
