Lakes Course at Genoa Lakes Golf Club
About
The Genoa Lakes Golf Club's Lakes Course brings water into Lake Tahoe-Reno golf. It's found on 14 of the 18 hole on the Lakes Course and it's not always nice tame water of staid old country clubs either. Sometimes you'll be shooting over near swamps with tall gnarly grasses poking out of them. That's the Lakes Course.
It's one of the more natural settings in an area known for its nature settings. You'll see cows along the border of the course - and birds will come flying up that you probably can't identify.
Lakes Course is a Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III design with rolling fairways, some tight shot openings and good views. It's 7,359 yards of golf with the Carson River and wetlands riding shotgun. It's located in Carson Valley, an often forgotten town, that's right inbetween the big gaming spots of Reno and Lake Tahoe. That makes Genoa Lakes Golf Club a pretty easy course to get to from most of the popular areas in the High Sierras.

Great challenge
If I had GPS on cart or a yardage book or even a map on the score card I would have had an excellent time vs an ok time.
I thought about using an app on my phone but I receive too many texts and phone calls that are distracting.
The sand bunker were more “Dirt Bunker”
Love to play again next year and maybe I would have a map.
Nice looking course, great scenic views, challenging and interesting holes. But whole course was covered by geese crap. They need to get a dog on the course to chase them off.
Very good
I always enjoy playing this course, if not just for the drive and a bit pricey I would be playing it more
Beautiful scenery, course under maintained
Beautiful scenery always in view. Fun, challenging layout. Everyone there very friendly and helpful.
Goose poop everywhere. Cart girl came by only once over 18 holes and snack shop closed.
Played here long ago and seems a shame that they’ve let it go.
A Delightful Afternoon
Despite the heat and wind, the course, an excellent John Harbottle-Peter Jacobsen layout, was a delightful experience. Generous fairways and large greens improved both my DIFs and GIRs. I liked the design variability —- short and long Par 4s, 3s and 5s, and the 18th is all the par 4 anyone could handle. Highly recommended.
Good day, but EXTREMELY SLOW
My son and I played here and were stuck behind 3-4 foursomes. It was an incredibly painful 5 hour round. Waiting on every single shot, every single hole. Ranger did absolutely nothing to help us play through. Just told us it was backed up, so unless you're playing in a foursome here... be careful.
Great Mountain Views
Stunning views from every hole. Only disappointment was the area was in a drought and most of the lakes and ponds were dry.
Great value
Great value with extremely friendly staff. The course was in great condition! Was. Very enjoyable day on the links style course.
Nice, but has gotten rough around the edges.
Great track, but like many courses today, it needs some TLC.
Still a treat to play and a nice staff, but course condition is not what it use to be.
Still a challenging track, and I’ll play it again in the future.
Great day at the Lakes
Great day, the weather was perfect as was the pace of play. The golf now deal was very fairly priced. Staff was super friendly from the front desk to the bar. Course was in Great shape, but a little brown and burnt in a few places on the fairway, super dry Spring. The sand traps weren't up to par with the rest of the course, they really needed...sand! Overall a very enjoyable experience, will definitely be back!
