A True Gem!!!

What a course!!!! What a layout!!! Coore/Crenshaw rarely disappoint! I am very blessed to have played this course, and hope to return ASAP. The subtle greens, the "minimalistic" approach using the natural contours of the landscape, and the strategic bunkering are what make this course shine.

I loved playing this course! The new clubhouse is slated to be completed in 2021, and man, this will be the cherry on the top. If you ever get the chance, do NOT pass on this hidden gem in NV!!!!

Clear Creek continues to mature into a real community

The C&C course has always been special. It's the community surrounding it that continues to evolve and impress. When I first visited about five years ago, only the course was in place. Two years ago, I stayed in the new cabins/cottages adjacent to the small clubhouse that serves as a home base for members. This year, the community can showcase its best amenity yet - the Summit Camp - a family entertainment complex with a pool, hot tub, fire pits, water slide, ping pong, corn hole, restaurant, sports courts and more.

The more I play Clear Creek, the more I realize it's just unbeatable. The greens are as wild as any C&C I've played. Couple that with the altitude and elevation changes, it's a chore to shoot your handicap. Regardless, moments like the third tee shot - where the ball hangs in the air for eternity - will leave your heart full and head engaged, no matter your score.

Pristine golf in the High Sierras

The only thing missing at Clear Creek is a clubhouse to match the five-star course and 10-star surroundings.

Plans are well underway to build one.

Clear Creek is another successful merger of golf and wilderness by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The course - located 45 minutes south of Reno - flows beautifully up and down a remote mountain site. Tall pines and boulder piles frame the holes. Although most of the elevation changes are subtle, the third hole drops nearly 200 feet from the tee to the fairway. Our group counted 13 seconds before one ball landed.

The bunkers look like they were dug by a small grenade blast. They're deep with rough edging, the perfect natural look. The wild greens will torture you - in a fun way.

Another gem from Crenshaw-Coore

This isn't your typical mountain course in so many ways. First of all, famed designer Bill Coore really doesn't do mountain courses, but except for one highly elevated tee, Clear Creek Tahoe doesn't have a big mountain feel to it. Don't get me wrong, though, the views are spectacular, it's just that there's not a ton of elevation change on the course, just one good hole after another in perfect condition. The greens may be the most challenging part of the golf course with a few buried elephants, fall-offs and some pretty severe greenside bunkers. It's also fairly walkable with most of the greens and tees pretty close together.
