Sunridge Golf Club

About
Located justhalf-hour drive from both Lake Tahoe and Reno, Sunridge Golf Club features monster holes and mammoth lakes. The 669-yards par 5 11th - the longest hole in the scenic High Sierras region and then some - draws your attention as soon as you look at the scorecard. But the 26 acres of water on the golf course will probably provide more challenge and thrills.
There's also a hole with a 300-foot drop from the tee to the fairway (No. 14), a tiny par 3 19th bet-decider hole and a ton of driveable par 4s that almost beg for you to go for it. As a bonus, Sunridge Golf Club's green fees wow many vacationers used to Tahoe pricing.

Interesting, if a bit wacky Desert Mountain Course
Played here to avoid the crazy greens fees up the hill in Tahoe area. It's an easy drive down, especially from South Tahoe. Course is interesting, if a bit wacky. Starts off normal with desert-style holes through the sage brush with some water hazards, that are reasonably challenging and nicely laid out. Then it goes up and down an extremely steep hill that gives you many shots with extreme elevation changes, for better or worse. Pace of play on the back nine was silly-slow possibly based on these changes. It is what feels like a half-mile from one hole on the back nine to the top of the hill (I forget the number). There is a bonus 19th hole at the end. Because of the location it can be very hot, and often very windy, so check the weather. Conditions were good enough. I get the feeling they are fighting the extremes of weather to keep it in shape. An interesting course, but there are others in the area I'd play first. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
One of the best
One of the best courses in the area. Challenging, with lakes, hills and elevation changes, easy greens, difficult greens, it’s got it all. Course layout is excellent.
Neat course - but a little rough on conditions
Course layout is nice and fun. Driving range ball machine empty, sand traps half to 3/4 full of growing vegetation. Greens in good shape. Fairways in good shape. No beverage cart
It' has improved.
Haven't played here for 3 years so noticed a marked improvement in course conditions. I enjoy playing this quirky layout when visiting the area.
Bunkers need attention
Greens are in very good condition, roll slower than expected. Fairways just ok. Bunkers are terrible.
A suprise gem
It is tought to get a full feel of a course the first time you play it. Usully the first time is jsut survival, the second time is, yeah I remember that and the third time is, Yeah, I got this. I really look forward to going back and playing here again.
Note: No way do you want to walk this course ... you would have to be a cross between a mountain goat and a Napalian Sherpa to attempt to walk the back 9.
Best golf ever
We played with another local couple which was very helpful. The starter quietly moved people around to put us with a very nice couple. Big hills and greens you cant see from the t box. We learned a new term: aiming stick (we call them yardage markers). Aiming sticks were great to aim for when you could not see the green. Beautiful views and another thing I had not seen before a 19th hole that is not a bar. They have a play off hole. #19. Great time on the links!
Golf
Staff was very friendly, got us out on the course as soon as we arrived. Didn't have to get paired up with anyone else. Course was I great shape. Will for sure be back to play again!!
Better than expected
This course has three types of golf in a single round. Links style, traditional style, and mountain style. Great fun! Birdied the 19th 'playoff' hole.
