The Genoa Lakes Golf Club's Lakes Course brings water into Lake Tahoe-Reno golf. It's found on 14 of the 18 hole on the Lakes Course and it's not always nice tame water of staid old country clubs either. Sometimes you'll be shooting over near swamps with tall gnarly grasses poking out of them. That's the Lakes Course.

It's one of the more natural settings in an area known for its nature settings. You'll see cows along the border of the course - and birds will come flying up that you probably can't identify.

Lakes Course is a Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III design with rolling fairways, some tight shot openings and good views. It's 7,359 yards of golf with the Carson River and wetlands riding shotgun. It's located in Carson Valley, an often forgotten town, that's right inbetween the big gaming spots of Reno and Lake Tahoe. That makes Genoa Lakes Golf Club a pretty easy course to get to from most of the popular areas in the High Sierras.

Course was in excellent shape.

Got a great rate on golfnow.com. The course was in great shape and the layout next to the Sierra's was spectacular. A little windy in the afternoon but most holes are protected by the trees. Plenty of open space for your tee shots. Hole #3 is a blind shot - 250 yds to the water.

Beautiful setting and intersting course design.

Excellent value compared to many courses I have played.
Gorgeous views, wildlife, and great weather the day we played.
Overall condition of course was very good considering the early spring time. Greens in excellent condition.
Will look forward to playing again and golfnow.com offers such a good value compared to regular green fees.

Good course, bunkers need better attention

Great course for the price however they should spend some time taking better care of their bunkers

Good round

Played last weekend in the pouring rain, the course was in good shape for early season. Quite a bit of water (lakes course) but still manageable. I played about true to my handicap, I was happy for the second day out this year. Staff was nice, however snack bar was closed when we made the turn at about 2:30PM, I assume early season hours.

Challenging without being punitive. Many of the best par 4's in the area

Medium fast greens in good shape for this time of year. Wonderful combination of long and short par 4's with greens of varying size and bunkering. Some water and forced carry but bail out areas on these approaches. One of the most enjoyable couses in the Greater Reno area

Genoa Lakes course

Nestled against the mountains of the Sierra crest above the Carson valley, this track offers stunning views of mountains and valley. The holes present many different shot making opportunities off of the tee. Risk/Reward abound. Relatively speedy and true greens, can trick the eye as to the perfect line for Birdie. (Or par/bogey,in my case) Excellent Fairway turf. Excellent sand in bunkers. Lower handicappers should play from forward tees and bring plenty of balls, in case you are having an "off" day. Well worth the money on GolfNow! Keep'em coming!

Great winter rates.

Another reason to love "Golfnow.com". We got a great rate ($30.70) on this course that we have played many times at much higher prices.
The course is wide open and long, remindes me of high desert with some trees and plenty of water. Par 3's are challenging for the average golfer, and fairways are wide open. Set amoung beautiful homes and open wetlands. The course does seems to be cursed with a "fungus" that I have seen on many northern california courses. The biggest bucks and does I've ever seen in one place, they actually looked like yard statues they were so big and healthy, the pics I took did not do them justice. Temp in Dec a pleasant 58 degrees.
