About
The Genoa Lakes Golf Club's Lakes Course brings water into Lake Tahoe-Reno golf. It's found on 14 of the 18 hole on the Lakes Course and it's not always nice tame water of staid old country clubs either. Sometimes you'll be shooting over near swamps with tall gnarly grasses poking out of them. That's the Lakes Course.
It's one of the more natural settings in an area known for its nature settings. You'll see cows along the border of the course - and birds will come flying up that you probably can't identify.
Lakes Course is a Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III design with rolling fairways, some tight shot openings and good views. It's 7,359 yards of golf with the Carson River and wetlands riding shotgun. It's located in Carson Valley, an often forgotten town, that's right inbetween the big gaming spots of Reno and Lake Tahoe. That makes Genoa Lakes Golf Club a pretty easy course to get to from most of the popular areas in the High Sierras.

Been far to long
Use to work here when it first opened. So I don’t remember a lot of the layout with all the houses. It is a very well layer out course. Gets breezy but that is part of the character of the course. They too dressed the greens last month. So the greens are a little bumpy. But where easy to read
Greens are plugged
I really love this course when the greens are healthy. They are unfortunately plugged right now and bad...
Good course for the money
Paid $45 through GolfNow. Included range balls and cart. So great value. Don't think I would pay the $90 published by course

Please see previous rewiew. It wasn’t favorable, maybe it got lost. Wouldn’t recommend it in its current condition.
Its a good layout
Its a good layout with tees for every skill level.
The course is usually in good shape no matter the season but the greens were in bad shape, very bumpy.
Will not play it again until the greens are better.

Fun. Fast greens. Winter conditions. Lots of deer.
Greens Ugh
I have played Genoa Lakes a number of times in the winter and the greens and overall course conditions have been great for winter time. Today the greens were as bad as I have ever seen. Looks like they got areated before winter hit and never healed. Two foot putts were a joke. They need to be verticut, then mowed, then rolled to make them somewhat playable.
Good course
Overall a good experience. Excellent winter conditions. Pace of play a littl on slow side. Need a Marshall to address slower groups.
