Wolf Run Golf Club
About
Wolf Run Golf Club is one of south Reno's most popular courses. The course is situated amid the Sierra Foothills, tumbling across a picturesque desert landscape sprinkled with native flora. The layout has many risk-reward opportunities and the par-3 holes are especially fun. The hilly terrain is as scenic as it is challenging, providing some tricky uneven lies and there is a meandering creek that slithers along the fairways. Though it's wide open, the golf course requires a bit of accuracy and some good course management. The elevated tees offer some spectacular views as well as some intimidating approaches to the fast, undulating greens. In addition to the golf course, Wolf Run also has a practice facility with a driving range and putting and chipping greens. You can also get your clubs repaired on site.

Reno Tahoe trip golf outing
While vacationing with my wife I took a few hours to play golf and she had some time to herself. I was able to find the course easily, thanks to GPS. I paired up with a twosome and had a great day. I found the course to be in great shape and a bit challenging. Only problem was the pace. There were course rangers out but they weren't making the speed pick up. I would play Wolf Run again if in the area.
Poor management
The course and conditions are nice but the staff is unethical and greedy. We had a 7:20 tee time and all was good through 6 when we found out that at 8:00 there was a shotgun start tournament, with two groups per hole, that we we're never informed of. Not only did the greedy and unethical staff not refund us our fee when we came in to complain but they ruined one of our vacation golf days
Never have I had such an experience at a course before!
jwi
Course was in great condition, no impossible holes and players and employees are very courteous.
Slow play / marmot pooh
Took 2 hours for the first 6 holes. We had to force ourselves to stick it out for 9. Walked off. Also, marmot pooh all around the putting area. Driving range mats are very old and warped.
Had a geat time!
I really enjoyed my round and had nice folks to play with. staff was great and the course is in great shape!
Will not play here again.
The staff and marshals were very nice, but the course was not in very good shape. Players in carts were driving everywhere and even with a few feet of the front of the greens!! Cart paths were in very bad shape. The course layout is nice though and a good challenge.
Over Booking - Slow Play
The management group consistently over books it's courses. Our tee time was late by almost an hour. The course gives the members priority and thus causes the delays. They even slip in members between tournaments causing even more delay. The staff and facilities are great, the cost is good, the folks running the tournaments are not taking responsibility for their actions. If you don't mind delayed tee times and 5 to 6 hours rounds of golf then this is your place.
Execllent condition
The course is in great shape, fairways excellent and the greens perfect.
Good track will do again
Next time I will play the white tees instead of blues.
Slow Wolfpack!
I can see this being a challenging course for UNR. As a single woman playing, it can be worrisome for pairing. Lucked out with 2 very nice local gentlemen. Challenging greens - don't normally have 3 putts. Started on back 9 - easier than front.
Unfortunately we waited EVERY shot. Need to consider moving to a 10 min tee time spacing. Some of the fairways need reseeding.
Also get some women's Wolfpack attire in the shop. We want to show our blue and silver too!
Course is challenging with hidden dangers for first time around
Great track. GPS was to small to see yardage to hazards. Overall great track
Challenging but Playable
Course was a good test. With meandering water channels running through the course, carries to greens and layups off the tee required decision making. Overall, the layout was really good, challenging and playable.
friendly members
The members I paired up with were great very friendly offered me a beer so that made the day the lay out has some nice challenges the par threes are good are well designed, there is a good mix of harder and easier holes. The wind makes it tougher which I'm sure it gets a fair bit of. Course was busy but it flowed we never had to wait to long but we did have to wait often making the round a bit long but overall a nice club and worth seeing.
Wolfrun on a 90 degree day
Wolfrun is a great course located in south Reno. First time playing the course was very challenging. It was 90 degrees out, but with a cart and several bottles of water, my group seemed to be handling the heat well. The light wind and shade from trees also helped. I enjoyed the front nine more than the back nine. More challenging than the extremely thick rough, was the amount of woodchucks on every hole. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that outside drinks were not allowed.
The course is over rated
We were never able to complete the round. Every hole we had to wait a minimun of ten minutes per hole
Nine holes was completed in 2 hours and 50 minutes
Only completed 12 holes due to the fact we had to be at the airport by 5:30 pm
In my opinion, the course was OVERBOOKED
The price of $70 was way over value!!
Solid
Course is in nice shape, greens roll smooth. Pace of play was good. Beverage cart went flying by us as we putted on 3 different holes, on 90 degree day. Charged me a $15 additional cart fee for a 3rd cart for a twilight tee time.... which was pretty absurd, although they are gas carts.
A good place to play
Had an afternoon round at Wolf Run - paired up with a twosome and had a good time playing golf. The course has some interesting holes with good shot placement needed to play well.
Too slow
Got to the course 1 hour ahead of time only to find out that the tee time was delayed 20 min due to a member tournament. 20 min became 40 min which meant I could only play 9 since I had another engagement at 7:30. 3.5 hours to play 9 holes was ridiculous. Target golf is at a premium and I was fortunate to play with regulars. They pointed out the backup was not normal and you can usually get around in under 4.5 hours. Wish the staff had just canceled the tee time versus making it impossible to finish the 18 I paid for.
Great test of golf for the average golfer.
I checked in and was given a cart key and told I could start anytime I wanted because the tee box was wide open. There are no signs as to where the first tee was so I had to guess which direction to go. The course could use more direction signs since the cart paths crisscross many times. I played the first 3 holes by myself and then caught up with a twosome who asked me to join them since they were waiting for a foursome in front of them. Loved the wide fairways which were in good shape and the greens were also in very good condition. Fortunately the traps were in good. shape too. Great views of the snow capped mountains. Enough hazards to make it a fun course to play but not too hard. There are hundreds of woodchucks or marmots on this course.
