Tight course
Canyon lakes is a nice challenging tight course .I really enjoy playing there and pace is play is usually right on time. Great staff I must admit that the traps need some work.the course is improving
Course
The bunkers have no sand All the rest of the course is in good shape when I booked my tee time was with a group and when I got there the group said they had a foursome when they booked there tee time which was not true am disappointed with the starter cause had to play the course as a single
This course is always a challenge...
Looks like there either eliminating some bunkers or starting to do work to them(thank god)Sand very very thin and a sticky clay beneath, greens are nice and fairways are starting to come around I think one more season and they will be very good. They have cut down a ton of trees, not sure if that's good or bad I like the trees but it is more opened up now for those who don't.Brewery is on and the beers I tried were tasty.Good place to play if you like a challenge, for those who like it wide open and more flat this is NOT for you.
Poorweather
Loved the layout of the course unfortunately the weather was a little rainy and the course as muddy and soft but a very enjoyable day good company would definitely play again
Still A Challenge
I have been playing this course for a number of years. There is always availability. The fairways are a little rough but the greens are in great shape. #14, par 5, 500 yards needs help around the green. Definitely muddy is some places. I'll be back in a couple of months when it is dry.
Sloppy but fast pace
The course was sloppy but understandable since I played after three consecutive days of rain. First nine holes was played in less than 1 hour 20 minutes, which was awesome. Last nine holes was the normal 2 hours and change. Overall, the pace of play was fantastic for a Sunday, but again, the rain may have deterred a lot of people. The greens are very difficult to score on if you're above the holes. Don't think about walking since some of the holes are super far apart. No driving range.
Great course layout and comparable to most muni courses
The weather is cool and hardly any wind, played a tuesday after lunch, finished my round in 4hrs.
The fairways are not that bad, sand trap and putting green are decent . The course is undulating with hilly terrrain and there are some water to be aware off.
It look deceivingly easy course but missed hit left to right will end up losing your ball. The fairways are fairly narrow. so placement and accuracy of the tee is the way to play this course.
overall nce course to play .
Winter golf in the burbs
The course offers plenty of challenges to the beginner golfer. There are plenty of hills, water and traps to demand attention. Trees line most holes so keep your drive straight. Some distances are not accurate because of the elevated greens. Back nine was nicer. Traps need repairs better to stay away. Nice brewery at the 19th hole with outside sitting.
Overall not good
The greens need work especially the ridiculous Par 5 11th or 12th hole that is the worst green I have ever seen in all my years of playing this game. They should tear it up and make a new green. That was a darn nightmare.
Pace of play
My god explain to golfers before the round about staying up with group in front of them. Get a marshal that can actually marshal. Could be a great course if they would work with the golfers on how speed up play. Course can be tough enough without buys playing from the blues that can’t hit it 150 yards
You'd Better Be Sharp
This course definitely values accuracy over distance. I feel like the course rating should be higher because it's so narrow in some spots. Trees are everywhere and you're bound to be hitting a shot underneath or through one. Greens are slick, yet bumpy, so I'm not a fan of them. It's just not very rewarding to your handicap if you play well here. I love the layout at least, but I wish it was in a bit better shape. I once had a 14 on #14 so try topping that
Canyon lakes is coming back!
It rained for three holes then it was pretty nice out.The course is coming back slowly, alot of bunkers are under construction and need some help, but fairways are slowly coming back .Greens are a bit bumpy and slow could use a roller on them to flatten them out and speed them up.All in all it was fun but this course has serious potential if they could drop some money in it to fix a few things then it might be competition for The Bridges next door.Problem is to much rain and you will have a hard time getting your cart back on the cart path,it doesn't drain well and the kind of dirt that turns into mud is the kind that will get carts stuck quite easily. But certainly has some great holes when they are in pristine condition.
Just keeps getting better!
This course has improved 10 fold since new ownership. The new brewery on site is a added plus at the end of round. Great value all around.
sand traps need lots of work & also some work needed on fairways.
Do you mean #14, big dog-leg left? That green is basically on the side of a hill, absolute nightmare like you said
