Good layout terrible two holes and bunkers
Overall I like this golf course but don’t think it’s worthy the money. It’s very close to my home but I’d always skipped playing here. The layout is pretty solid with two glaring issues.
There are two holes on the front that are terrible because of geese poop. I’ve never seen more geese poops on holes 4 and 5 than anywhere else in my entire life. Just disgusting.
Second problem is the bunkers. On almost every hole they have bunkers that they’ve let die. Some look like they might eventually refill. Others are just weeds.
With some minor changes this would be a great course. But I won’t pay that money again when I can go to Calippe or poppy ridge for 10-15 more.
Golf and Beer
Course layout - Short with a lot of up and down. It’s extremely narrow in places but if you can place it off the tee then you will have lots of fun here.
Staff - The staff were super friendly and seemed to be happy to be working which is unusual as most popular courses that are in a prime location seems to have a real attitude problem in the bay area.
Overall - We had a blast! The kicker at this course is that there is an award winning brewery attached to the course that opens at 7am. It also has bochi ball and corn hole before you even get to the tee.
Coming Back Soon
Twenty years. That’s a long time not to return to a course that offered a healthy challenge over an interesting layout and very nice course conditions. Things haven’t changed. Except the welcome addition of a taproom and an update to the clubhouse interior. My round was as enjoyable as it was so long ago. I look forward to returning soon. Don’t wait too long to play it yourself, you’ll be glad you did. I was.
Canyon Lakes is a great course for the cost. This course for the average golfer such as myself is very challenging. The staff was great and even allowed us to tee off early. The one thing which is small is I wish a drink cart was making rounds. They also do no have a driving range but nets are available to warm up. These things are nothing that will stop me from playing Canyon Lakes again.
Nice day
Canyon Lakes was really busy because of Good Friday and everyone was off work all in all enjoyed the course and will be out there again .
Overall not bad
Weather was great , course was in good condition . Kind of tired of having to swap carts at the turn because they aren’t holding a charge usually not a huge deal but this time there were no carts waiting so we went to the club house then was directed to go to the garage where a kid got a cart for us . Pace of play was slow for a Wednesday 12:20 tee time . Only course complaint is the sand traps are I really bad shape
Bunkers really needs some serious attention new sand etc.
Nice course
Nice course but bunkers really need some attention there is no sand in most bunkers and a lot of them are ground under repair
Course in bad shaoe
Not sure what happened to canyon lakes! To start both carts didn’t even make it through 10 holes without dying. Saw another group behind us needing a new cart by hole 14-15. Most fairway bunkers are GUR. Green fringes in bad shape. The only good thing about canyon lakes was nice quick greens! For $65, terrible value, I do not recommend.
Great view of the Mountains
The course was in decent shape for this time of year, with fun and challenging holes.
The biggest issue I had was they charged me $45 for rental clubs, that should have been $10. I could have bought these on ebay for $20, it was ridiculous.
Course conditions are getting better
The new owners seem to be fixing the poor bunker conditions slowly but surely. The greens were rolling quite fast with some tricky pin placements.
However, pace of play was lousy and keeps my retired friends from joining me on the weekends. With only threesomes in front of us, it took 5:40 to play on a Sunday afternoon in perfect playing conditions! We only saw the marshal once... on the 1st hole.
Tight course
Canyon lakes is a nice challenging tight course .I really enjoy playing there and pace is play is usually right on time. Great staff I must admit that the traps need some work.the course is improving
Course
The bunkers have no sand All the rest of the course is in good shape when I booked my tee time was with a group and when I got there the group said they had a foursome when they booked there tee time which was not true am disappointed with the starter cause had to play the course as a single
This course is always a challenge...
Looks like there either eliminating some bunkers or starting to do work to them(thank god)Sand very very thin and a sticky clay beneath, greens are nice and fairways are starting to come around I think one more season and they will be very good. They have cut down a ton of trees, not sure if that's good or bad I like the trees but it is more opened up now for those who don't.Brewery is on and the beers I tried were tasty.Good place to play if you like a challenge, for those who like it wide open and more flat this is NOT for you.
Poorweather
Loved the layout of the course unfortunately the weather was a little rainy and the course as muddy and soft but a very enjoyable day good company would definitely play again
You don't think it worth the money! Are you kidding this is the best deal in the east bay.
Course is in great shape, green are great.
Yes bunkers need work but you are not paying 150 a round but one third of that.
This is the best deal for a quality course unless you fly to Thailand.
