Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Legends Course
About
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon offers two 18-hole championship courses, the Legends and the Champions. Nestled in the foothills of the San Gorgoncio and San Jacinto Mountains, both courses have a scenic landscape that offers stunning views. The Legends Course is the newer of the two but it provides just as challenging a game as the Champions, which is a PGA Tour favorite. The Legends twists and turns through the winding elevations, demanding accuracy throughout. Like its sister golf course, there are numerous steep-lipped bunkers treacherously placed along the greensides. The rough is also tall, thick, and unforgiving. The tricky par-3 fourth hole is played from the highest point on the property. From the tee, the canyon seems more intimidating but the wildly sloped green is where the challenge begins.

Morongo TukwetLegend course
We chose to play on Tues. the 4th of July and I ended up coming back two days later and played it Thursday and Friday as well... it's an enjoyable track, both fair and challenging and I like how it goes out and doesn't come back to the clubhouse. it's a beautiful walk and drive through nature. the course was in good shape and the greens were great. I highly recommend this course as well as it's sister course the Champions which is adjacent on the same property.
All in all, pretty good
Course seemed to be in better condition then my last time I played here. If there was one beef, it was that some areas were too damp and others burned out. If somehow, they could get the excess water over to the burned out areas, course would look really good. For what we paid, was a good deal and would play again.
Great Track
Legends course is in the best condition I have seen in a long time. Greens were a little slow due to last stages of recovery from aeration but the fairways and rough are excellent.
Poor playing conditions
Without online notice, punched and sanded greens X-8 days; no sympathy from staff; although director of golf stayed he would call Golfnow to update conditions; also fairways too high. Normally a very good layout and fun course to play with tees for all handicaps. Golfnow was very responsive to situation.
Great course. Played it for the first time and loved it. The greens were aerated... hope they would give us this information before hand! But overall a great course and perfect condition. Will definitely play again!
I love this course
Very good fairway condition. Challenging green. Playing pace was excellent. We were able to finish a round in 3.5 hours. I Will play this course again.
Nice round
The course was in good shape. Pace of play was a bit slow due to tournaments.
Hump Day on the course.
Living in the area I thankfully have a couple of different courses to choose from and hadn't made my way over to Morongo until this past Wednesday. The price was very cheap for the course being it was a Wednesday evening and the weather was a bit cold and cloudy but it turned out to be very nice. The staff was friendly and the course is very nicely maintained. The only exception would be the greens on the Legends course as I believe they are due for some freshening up. The carts are equipped with digital course maps/flyovers for every hole and yardage to the center of greens. I am definitely coming back soon!
EXTREMELY POOR OUTSIDE SERVICES
Both courses here can be challenging especially for a "first timer" who may not know where to place their tee shots or are playing a tee box not suited to their ability. We played the Legends course which was in fair condition only, due to standing water in some fairways and bunkers. Now to our main beef. We believe that a golf experience starts at the bag drop and ends when the clubs are back in the trunk after the round. We dropped our bags at the bag drop and checked in , the assistant in the golf shop was not over friendly and was more interested in SELLING us range balls and directed any questions to the outside service staff. When we arrived at the bottom of the stairs where the carts were parked our clubs had not yet arrived and there was no staff member around. I finally found him in the cart barn and asked if the bags could be brought down, his curt reply was, "you can drive your cart up there and get them yourself". This was the start of the very unfriendly experience with the outside service staff (except for the starter at the tee box and the beverage cart girl). I have been in the golf business for many years and this crew definitely need training in customer relations. They were rude and uncooperative. The carts were not set up properly, ie no scorecards, no pencils, no cooler available, no cups or ice for on course water stations and no tees. At the home of the Southern California PGA I expected the same first class service their members are always afforded when they visit courses in the Palm Springs area.
Legends Course
Absolutely an outstanding course and experience...from arrival to departure and in between!
Fun track, hard for first timers.
Really fun track. Some tough holes due to blind shots that are tough for first timers. Would help if they could somehow put points of interest on the GPS systems on those holes which have complete blind shots. Great value and enjoyable course. Pace of play was a bit slow.
Give it a try
I like everything about this course. The layout is so interesting. The condition right now is nearly perfect. The views are splendid. The greens have enough slope to make it interesting, but not enough to make putting silly.
Pace of play can be an issue here, but not on the day we played.
The prices are a bit high, but they offer enough hot deals rounds that you can usually find an affordable time to play.
Course challenging
The greens weren't in the best shape. Hard and dry. They may be getting ready to re-seed. All in all great experience.
