Glen Ivy in Sad State
Played on Sunday pace was slow but tolerable
Fairways with multiple dry spots greens very bumpy
Hole 5 still has “putting” green in the middle of fairway- this since last year
Course could use some love
It would have been nice to be informed that greens were sanded…overall a quick round with a great layout. This course has its ups and downs. Something it looks great but to often lately it’s not in the best shape.
Pace of play
The pace of play at Glen Ivy is very slow. They really need to do something about this. I will not be playing there again.
Horrible Greens
The greens were very slow, spongy, and bumpy. It was like putting from a fairway. Tee times every 8 minutes so pace of play was very slow (6+ hour rounds).
The greens
I cannot believe there’s not a warning about the greens. I called in advance and asked if they were aerated, I wish they were because they would’ve been in better shape than this. I’ve never seen anything like this in my entire life. Ripples to the point where the average 10 foot pot would bounce up and down at least six times.
Left me completely dumbfounded. Look like it hadn’t been rolled in weeks
Great Course
This was the second time I played Glen Ivy. Overall it’s a great course. This time playing though some of the greens were on not in so great of shape, which is a big change from the last time I played where everything was basically PGA quality. The greens were pretty bumpy and had some bald spots, which definitely affected putting. But overall for the twilight fee of $30 it was a very good value.
Great time, great value
We try and play here once a month. We are wait for the course to get back into the top condition it once was. The crews are doing, and have done a lot of work to get it there again. Staff is great, from the provshop, to the starter, and the guys issuing the carts. Everyone is friendly, fun, andcwant you to have a good day playing golf..
Cantcwait until the next time.
Manager issues
I had had an issue where a group skipped over our group on 15. The Marshall was unwilling to correct the situation even after I brought it to his attention. Furthermore , I spoke with the manager after the round and was combative and unfriendly. This course played at over a 6 hour pace which added to the overall stress between the groups. Strongly do not recommend playing here.
Greens in horrible condition
I don't understand how the golf course can be so shamelessly charging full price at $119 when their greens are in such a poor state. Bumpy, slow, under repairs or with repair patches grossly uneven and near the holes. Hole 5 even had dirt patches right on the green within 10 feet of the hole.
Save your money, for less amount, much better maintained courses are in range, and for similar money, I can name a few prestigious courses that are a treat to play: Tustin Ranch, Strawberry, Oak Creek.
For much less, Industry Hills greens are so firm and fast you'd think you're playing on tour, and San DImas is always in great shape, even when punching the greens, they punch 1/2 of the green so you can play the other 1/2 and enjoy their fast, smooth greens.
What you get a Glen is ridiculous for the price they charge.
Greens are in bad shape, bumpy, under repairs.
Most greens were bumpy and had repair patches that were uneven. The par 3 5th hole is really under repairs and had dirt track and patches within 10 feet from the hole.
The course should be ashamed charging full$120 per round. Check out my photos and you be the judge. $120 is at par with some orange county courses that are in immaculate shape, Tustin ranch, strawberry ( well... Just$20 more maybe), but babe amd Ike for example are in tournament shape and the only complain your have is that the greens are too fast and too firm.
I played at whispering lakes just a couple of days ago, paid less than$50 and the greens are in much much better shape.
Shameless really.
Outstanding and fun
1st time playing here. Course was in excellent shape and greens were very nice. Although they had a carpet feel the lines and speed held true. Fun layout with some interesting tee boxes.
The views are incredible especially #18! Highly recommended
Love the Course BUT
The greens need a COMPLETE rebuild. Patchy, bumpy, bare spots. Was told that they are to be PUNCHED next week but still charged full price. Most were UNPUTTABLE but I’ll be back after the greens are done.
