Angeles National Golf Club

I played on Father’s Day, assumed that the course would be slow so my expectations were reasonable I felt like. Cut to when we go to tee off, only to find out the groups were 20 minutes behind already. No starter there to manage the first tee or push groups of two together. Found out there that they were sending people off every four minutes. Ended up teeing off 25 minutes after we were supposed to. No starter, marshal or cart girl to be found. The pace was abysmal, finished in 5 hours from when we were supposed to have teed off. Course was in good shape and the very few people we did see working were all great. But what an absolutely brutal job by decision makers on how to manage what they should have known was a busy day on the course.

The weather was perfect at Angeles National, and the course was is fine condition (with week old aerated greens). My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 hour round. We'll look forward to our next round at Angeles National.

This is always a nice time. Beautiful views, great layout, true greens. It often has a nice country club feel because (I believe) the people who like easy scoring avoid it. Also it’s a little salty. 2 coffees for $10 and a bucket of balls for $20. Be on the lookout for the hot deals when nobody is willing to pay what can be extortionate prices.

All that said it has a posh feel and is obviously well maintained.

I played the tips for fun. I’m not the best but I can control the ball enough and just wanted to enjoy every hole. It really is a well maintained course. And out of all the courses I played so far the greens are actually difficult and you need to know how to read the grain. If you don’t get the hot deal price, it is a bit expensive but the pace of play is really nice. The course is not packing as many players as possible slowing the pace down and the staff is really friendly.

This was a perfect course to play. Great layout and some challenging holes. Very suitable for beginners and veterans. I will definitely be back.

Course seems to be improving after a period of less than stellar condition. Always a great challenge and really wish they would renovate the pathways for walkers (given my only two real complaints are the rack rate cost and pace of play).

Still, it’s worthwhile and enjoyable!

I couldn’t believe the GolfNow price I got, so naturally I was thinking maybe the greens would be punched and sanded or something weird like that. To my surprise the conditions were great! We unfortunately got stuck behind a twosome who clearly had no rift playing this course, they should probably spend a year or so on the range or executive courses before tackling a full length championship course. So the pace of play wasn’t the best.

We played this course when it was just opened. It has matured a lot in those 20 or so years. More vegetation. The setup is more isolated from neighboring holes.

It is quite wide mostly, so losing balls shouldn’t be a problem.

The negative would be you can’t bring a cart to your vehicle. No consierge either. I have to lug mine and my wife’s bag. Wears me out before I hit one ball.

Apparently we can get there by freeway, but we might wreck in the parking lot. 🤔

Course was well kept, good tee boxes, fairways good, rough was a bit long but playable, green complexes are huge and challenging.
