About
La Cantera Golf Club opened in 1995, when it also hosted one of the oldest PGA Tour events, the Texas Open. It is no wonder the spot was chosen, with its numerous natural water features, mature oaks, and limestone rock outcroppings it provides the perfect terrain for a challenging round. There are also 75 white sand bunkers strategically placed throughout the golf course. In combination with the spectacular views provided by the course’s elevation changes, the course has quickly gained favor as one of the best public-access golf courses in the country.

Too noisy
The ground crew followed us the entire back nine with the giant blowers on. We couldn’t even hear each other talking. Plus they blew grass on or towards us for two hours.
Best Conditions in SA
While San Antonio struggles with keeping their courses hydrated between May and October, La Cantera has it figured out. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and greens are all in phenomenal shape for already being near 100°. I will be back routinely.

Nice course
Greens had a layer of sand that didn’t allow for true putts.

Hill Country Gem
Played while visiting San Antonio on business. Had an early tee time and got out ahead most of the groups.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Rental clubs were a good set of Callaways. They provide a pouch with 6 balls with the rental clubs. The course has a nice grass driving range with a short game area.
The layout has a fair amount of elevation change. Consistent with other hill country courses, there are a lot of trees. Fairways were pristine and the first cut of rough was playable. Some deeper rough awaits if you miss big. Bunkers are well placed and there are a few water hazards to keep it interesting. Greens had a lot of grain and plenty of humps and bumps.
I’d play it again.

Outstanding Golf Resort Course
The La Cantera Resort Golf Club exceeded my expectations. The course overall design was spectacular. Elevated tee boxes, plunging tee shots, and numerous risk-reward options made the round exciting and enjoyable. The fairways and greens were perfectly maintained and generous. Distance was not a problem due to multiple sets of tees. I felt like a PGA Tour player! One of the best golf courses in the State of Texas. Perfect vacation destination golf course.

No beverage cart
Never once saw a beverage cart pass by spent over 500 for 2 people, meals, drinks and golf.
