La Quinta Mountain: #15
#15 on La Quinta's Mountain is laying along the base of the mountains - stay tight to the base and go for this par 5 in two. The green stays snug up against the base and will not be in full view.

After reseeding

Terrific course setting and excellent fare ways. Green were tough because they were recently sanded. Still prefer this course to the Dunes course.

Course closing

They didn’t tell us when booking that course was closing in a few days for 6 month redo

The course was in poor condition and they weren’t watering greens and surrounds.

A shame since we have played previously and enjoyed it very much

Unplayable greens

We expected a bit of a challenge with a Pete Dye designed course and were aware of the many positive reviews of this course. I must say the conditions we experienced at this time of year were terrible, particularly the rapid speed greens.

Worst yet, we had heard in the parking lot while leaving that refunds were offered at the turn to those who complained. I wish we were aware of that offer, we would have moved on to Desert Willow or Indian Canyons.

I was taken aback by a conversation I overheard from a marshal speaking with a cart attendant on the course complaining about patrons who complained about the course conditions. Not cool.

Do yourself a favor if you're a mid handicapper and skip this course at this time of year.

Fun layout, good conditions, awful greens

Very well maintained course on tee boxes and fairways. Challenging layout and small greens test your accuracy in a fun way. Greens were absolutely awful, nothing was staying on the green. Balls would bounce and roll off the green everytime, making it a rough time on a hot day. Would only go back if they fix their greens.

Third round in one week - that should tell you something.

I played the course three times in under one week. While the spring was warm the course was still in great shape. Tee boxes and fairways in perfect condition and the greens were firm, fast and fair. Just remember to club up and if you can come in high, always the best way to approach these Pete Dye greens. No matter the cost, the course is great for beginner or expert alike. The front and back nine are different feels and while you are in a desert, water is in play on plenty of holes. Go play the course when in town, you will not be disappointed.

Not worth the price

The greens are made out of a green colored clay. It's not really grass. Maybe dried out roots of grass. I don't know something. One thing for sure - it is not worth the price they are charging. Perhaps half what they charged would be worth it.

5/5, hard but beautiful

5/5. Would play again. A few blind shots which keeps groups waiting. Driving range is irons only. Almost every hold made you stop and take in all the beauty. Felt like a vacation.

PD Mtn Course

Played this course on Tuesday April 4, 2023.

Really unique mountain course for me (I normally golf in Alberta and BC). I liked the layout. My comments are as follows:

. Houses on back nine did not really come into play

. Greens were small and skewed to faster and at times it was a challenge to make balls stick

. Driving range is small and busy and on this day the hitting area was moved up and we could only hit irons

. There are multiple tee boxes to allow for players of a variety skill levels to find something to suit them

I managed to get a $200 green fee and I thought that was a fair price
