PGA WEST Pete Dye Mountain Course

A great layout some holes with water in play, some in between villas and some in or by the mountains so a great variety.

I love this course. It’s spendy but a beautiful setting and great facilities. I love the fresh squeezed OJ as part of a morning cocktail. The staff is always friendly and helpful from when you arrive, to checkin, to when you finish. The course is always in great shape, is laid out well, and the setting is amazing.

Course is gorgeous, great view of the mountains. Just don’t book a tee time after 1pm. They made us return the carts a little after 4pm even though there was over an hour of daylight left. Bummed that we paid full price :(

Course was beautiful, a little difficult but fun. Reason it gets three stars is not necessarily the staff themselves but I’m assuming what the staff has to enforce. Firstly we had one member of our threesome drop out, so I used GolfNow to adjust the reservation two days ahead of our tee time. When we went to check in, GolfNow had not communicated the adjustment to the course, so the staff member gave me a hard time, even saying that they should charge me a fee, I showed them the adjustment email I got from GolfNow and they let me off the hook thankfully. Lastly, and worst, apparently they need all the carts in by a little after 4pm? So me and me friend only got to play 11 holes. This really bummed me out since we paid full price and there is easily an hour and a half of daylight left. Yet again great course, but do not make the mistakes I did.

Beautiful course up against the mountains. Only a few holes at the turn ran through resort homes. Much more playable for an average golfer than the Stadium; definitely a Pete Dye course but not extreme. Plays fair. Very good condition. Just overseeded so greens ran a little slower and fairways were a little softer ( just not as much roll)

Yesterday played Greg Norman teed off 1:22 and finished before dark. Today teed of 12:36 and couldn’t finish. First 9 over 2.5 hours. Rangers need to get folks moving

When booking reservation was never told it would be cart path only. Had I been told would have picked another course, which is why I probably wasn’t told.

We really enjoyed this beautiful course. Disapppinted that the pace and earlier closure prevented us from finishing all 18 holes

Unless you hit the fairway, the odds of finding your ball were extremely low. The rough was equivalent or worse than what you’d see at a U.S. Open. Fortunately for the pros, they have spotters. Unfortunately for us, we do not. It was obvious that every other group was also searching for their ball in the rough and overall it slowed the pace of play down dramatically. The scenery was fantastic. The combination of the slow greens and forrest-like rough should equate to the course not charging premium rates. I would have hoped for the rough to be cut down to a reasonable height prior to the course reopening. It honestly resulted in my whole group being pretty salty at the end of the round.

lots of better places to play, way overrated. congested, noisy carts, course was built in an old style when they moved lots of earth and looks unnatural in lots of areas. Pace of play was painful. range is on mats which is disappointing.

I thought the course was a bit strange. The nines were completely different and so the course didn’t flow well. Felt like I was playing 3 different courses. Front nine was so open and I was surprised I didn’t hear more “Fore”!! Lots of opportunities for people to get hit. You might want to rethink the tee markers, as the colours are very muted and not always easy to see what tee it was. That’s it. I doubt I’d rush back to this course. Sorry.

I called to confirm course conditions were solid because they were closing the next day for overseedimg. Course staff assured me it was in top condition. Upon arrival first thing out of the bag drop employees mouth was that course needs tons of work and isn’t tip top. Course as dry as a bone and greens and surrounding areas wouldn’t hold even the best of shots. It was a joke. No one in our group of six enjoyed it. Course layout on front nine was boring. Back nine was better but overall not worth your time or money much better courses in the valley. All in all the only PGA West course I’ve truly enjoyed is the Greg Norman.

The Pete Dye Mountain Course at PGA West is worthy of it's name for the 7 holes that are situated up against, in-between and/or over the nearby mountains. The remaining 11 holes are good golf holes, but are similar to the sister Dunes Course. Course conditions were very good although I would have enjoyed faster rolling greens and sand in many of the bunkers was almost non-existent. Very comfortable clubhouse, with very nice pro shop attendants and tee starter. Pace of play was excellent as our threesome completed the round in just over 3 1/2 hours. I would play this course again should I ever return to the area, but would hope that I would either stay out of the sand (dirt) or that the bunkers would be more playable with ample sand within them. An additional water/ice comfort station on the front nine would be appreciated - especially in the hot weather.
