Wekiva Golf Club

Ok but showing effects from long hot summer like most courses. Tee boxes weedy, fairways good, rough a collection of green growths, greens a bit burnt and drowned from all the rain at the same time but still rolled well.

Better condition than last time a couple of months ago, greens coming back, fairways good shape, some tee boxes still a little weak.

Wekiva was a lot of fun. The course is taken care of fairly well and I had no issues. Greens were nice and well taken care of as was the rest of the course. There are a lot of bunkers at Wekiva, but all were well maintained and had been freshly raked. It has been raining fairly decently in Central Florida so there were a few places where it was a little soggy, but overall the course drains very well.

The staff at the front was friendly and joked around with everyone. Did not see any cart service. There is a set of bathrooms on the course as well.

I recommend coming out here if you have never played and if it has been awhile, come back and try it.

Course itself was in decent shape. Tee boxes were pretty rough, fairways were okay, but Greens were good. Great shape and rolled true. Not a lot of water on the course, and the layout of the course was pretty good. However I only got to the the front 9. Made the turn onto 10 only to find a group on the green, a five some in the fairway , and two groups at the tee. So I turned around and played the front 9 again.

Decent size bar area, no beverage cart.

Im not saying I wouldn’t recommend playing this course, but it just may be awhile before I return. Price point was a tad high.

I don’t know when tee times went out the window at golf courses but After playing the first 6 holes in an hour, I had to sit behind 2 foursomes and a six some for another hour to finish the front 9. Hoping the back nine would be better, I was met with 9 carts at the 10th tee box stating that there were six groups ahead. I went to play the front 9 again only to wait behind 3 foursomes. Too many people on the course at once. No way to find a rhythm. Didn’t even get to experience half of the course because of the amount of people on the course. Also I’m pretty sure there was a group of EIGHT playing together.

Wekiva is a fun course to play. But you'd better be good out of a bunker, because the greens are surrounded. The staff in the clubhouse and on the course are friendly. The new carts are great. But the ladies tees are questionable. And the real reason this is our 3rd choice course is the slow fivesomes they allow. Very annoying. The rules of golf say foursomes. Your local rule just irritates my wife and I to no end.

We play golf all over Florida and while its been several years since we played there, we were very pleased with the day we had.

A couple of things took place that made the day special for us and they both came from a gentleman in the pro shop.

1. He was the friendliest, most helpful, cheerful and warm person we have come across. he is a perfect example of how the front desk of any business is only as good as its staff.

2. We had (2) golfers and (2) riders (our wives). Not only did he tell us there was no rider fee, he also explained everything to us and was patient with our questions. as we had a group golfer coupon. Many courses have staff who treat you poorly when you arrive as a coupon holder, but not this day.

That gentleman really helped make our day and we feel he should be acknowledged for that. It was a saturday May 25th.

Once we got on the course, we were AMAZED at how well maintained it was. The greens were really nice and so were the fairways. The tees were a bit rough in places but did not detract from a lovely day. Excellent conditions!!

Thank you for having staff who actually understand that it does not cost anything to be friendly. You just got some repeat customers because of that nice man.

Great course great employees just need signs on cart paths telling you were the next hole is

Great course, some fairways are tight but overall great value. Water is only last two holes, but plenty of sand bunkers for challenges. Greens were in good shape last few plays. They also have a excellent range and chipping practice area. Friendly staff too.

I really enjoyed the course. Not too tight or too easy. Greens in good condition. Friendly welcome from staff and members.

Not the best of condition as a course, but good to play. Fairways had lots of tufted grass on them, or other weeds, but the ball always had a good lie. Tees were in poor condition, especially the red ones where my wife played from. Lots of weeds and bare patches. However, greens were good and fast.

Pace of round very quick, helped by rain which stopped an hour before our booked time.

I drove from Kissimmee, but would not do so again. However, if I lived near the course, then I would play it again.

Love how Wekiva is always active. Great staff, they are always taking care of conditions. I would like to play here weekly!

We like to explore various courses. This one was 54 minutes from Clermont so we had to deal with 429/192 traffic coming home. It's a nice course, the gentleman who sign us in was very nice. Had called that morning to see if it was okay to bring a small cooler. The person on the phone sounded younger...when I asked, he hesitated then said "yes, no coolers are allowed" I asked him which was it yes we could, no we couldn't..... turns out it didn't matter. Nice place.

I arrived to the course and was greeted by a friendly staff in the pro shop. I had read reviews about big numbers of groups teeing off. The pro shop personnel offered to send me off the back nine which was nice.

The fairways need some work, some were green, others looked like they were dormant. The greens were decent and rolled nicely. The sand traps were nice. Compared to other courses near it will be a while before I come back to play. I may try it later in the summer.

This is not the first time I've been stuck behind groups of 5 and even 6 players in one group. By the time we reached the 4th hole, we were backed up to the tune of 10-15+ min. at the tee. I've been behind oversized groups at other courses also. This is a phenomona that I have never experienced outside FL. What really bugs me though is the ignorance of the group, in that they lack the etiquette to let twosomes pass through.

The course is in the best condition I have ever seen and the new carts are terrific. Everything is great and the greens are lightning fast and hard. Really the only negative are the fivesomes on the course. Don't know why management allows this aggravating nuisance repeatedly. It does not benefit anyway and is very discouraging for anyone behind them. Kudos to the grounds workers for a fine job. Now if management would just appease almost everyone and ban fivesomes. A group of five players can play much more efficiently and effectively as a threesome and twosome. Additionally, I have never been behind a fivesome that moves at a normal to fast pace. It just does not happen. That is why they are banned on almost every course except del la Russa's (sp) Wekiva course.. It's time to get smart.
