Indian Hills Golf Club
About
Nestled in the foothills of Riverside County, Indian Hills Golf Club incorporates a range of different elevation changes. The elevated tees provide great views of the surrounding hills while the tricky raised greens make up the bulk of the course's difficulty. Conveniently, the spacious layout doesn't have any parallel fairways. The undulating terrain guarantees that you'll come across a few uneven lies and there are also a few tough blind shots in store. Water hazards come into play on a few holes as do strategically placed bunkers but the focus remains on the dramatic drops and rises of the terrain. There is an especially daunting drop on the 16th hole. The challenging layout and scenic views have built Indian Hills' reputation as one of southern California's best public golf courses.

Outstanding challenge every time
As always, staff were nothing less than friendly and professional; including at 0600. Teed off at approx. 0615 and had a 3.5 hour round. Not bad for this challenging course with evidently a full roster for the day. Tee boxes were recently punched and considering the significant recent heatwave - conditions were great along the fairways and greens. Though the bunkers were like tough clay, work will begin soon to improve them.
Bare Bones
Aside from the green and fringe around it the whole course is either brown dead grass or bare dirt. It was atrocious. It’s cut where it needs to be around the green but it just lacks watering and grass everywhere else. Covid is probably the reason since I’ve played this course in the past and it was in decent shape.
Unfortunately course is dried out.You don't get rewarded for good drives
Weather cooperated for an enjoyable holiday round
We were hoping for a holiday miracle (since the previous 2 days had been 115 degrees in the area) and we got our wish. Arrived at course to 76 degree temps and it never topped 95 during our round..It was a bit humid but nothing like the previous days. Course was is in OK condition with quite a few brown or bare spots (but it is the end of summer in Riverside, CA). Greens were perfect and ran fairly quick and challenging. Overall was a great round with friends and we'll be back.
Decent design, awful conditions.
Course is in awful shape. Drive it down the middle of the fairway? Congrats! You get to hit off dirt. No plans on returning.
Needs work
crab grass all over the fairways, tee boxes are horrible shape. Trash cans full and over flowing. Staff is super friendly.
Disappointed by course condition
I have been playing this course for years because I like the layout and you usually get a good value, which is about 30-35 for a good course. However, this time I paid $50 for dry and bare fairways. And I cannot blame the hot weather, because I've played in the Summer before and this was not the case. Management needs to step up and get the course in good shape, more so if you will charge fees that suggest higher quality. If this continues, then I'll gladly switch to General Old Course, Shandin Hills or even Whispering Lakes.
Challenging course
This is a nice course but the condition of the fairways has gone way down due to the hot weather I suspect. The last time I played here they were in really good shape but now are mostly brown in a lot of areas. Still a good challenging course.
Fairway is dying
May be due to hot weather, overall fairway condition is fair. Most of them were half green and half bare.
Steamy Hot day
I use to love this course, I know is the Pandemic but the condition of the course is really deteriorated. The tee box is one of the worst I ever been playing in this course. I hope next time I come back the course will become better shape.
Rough shape
This could be a fun course if the fairways were fair. Too much hardpan making nice drives end up in dirt. We’ll try again this winter when it’s more green. Tee boxes need help as well.
Seriously horrible conditions
Had some guys try to fight us after the round due to there extremely slow play. Play a 5 sum on a Sunday afternoon. Unacceptable. Key boxes were unusable fairways were all dirt
Value for your money
Great value! Nice course to play for fraction of the cost. Only downside when we played, a group of 5 people in front of us, which slowed our foursome and the two other groups behind us
