Great value
So many bunkers! Good shot accuracy test. Greens in excellent condition. Comfort stations on the course need attention. A definite re-play.
Best Value in South Florida
This course is on the way back. New sand was being placed in the green side bunkers while we were playing and there were a lot of people working on the course. It has excellent practice facilities that are lighted and open until 10 pm. The main detraction was the condition of the fairway bunkers - although a lot of them aren't really in play. Enjoy the low rates while they last - this course will command higher prices once it's back in better condition
The course has nice greens
The course had problems with the greens the last time I play it. However they have work on and fixed the greens. They are playing very well at this time.
Enjoyed my round
With all the bunkers just waiting for your ball, it will keep you focused on every hole. Great lay out and fun to play.
play here with golfnow. prices.
It's a TPC course. Nuff said. Play here! It says my text is too short but I said my peace.
Challenging course
This is a challenging layout with many sand traps! The greens are in good shape. This is my 4th year in a row coming from Boston to play here. I will be back!
Fun course but need to fix the bunkers
Heron Bay is a really fun course to play. Fairways are wide open, however there are a ton of bunkers. For some reason most of the bunkers have a lot of extra sand in them. They literally have mounds piled up which makes it impossible to find your ball if you land in them.
Nice Experience
.Multiple tees, Course in good shape excellent for some bunkers (in preparation for next-day tournament). Lots of sand! Nice people and good food.
Nice Course
Fast play for full size course. Cart did not have promised GPS. Steer around bunkers.
The PGA really played here?
Hard to believe the Honda used to call this home, much less it was a TPC. An entirely forgettable course with no character at all. Unappealing to the eye, especially off the tee. Conditions were questionable at best...especially the bunkers which is a problem given how many there are. Even at the price, will not return.
Bunkers
Played several years ago and the course was in much better condition. Found may of the holes very much the same - wide fairways and lots of bunkers. No hole stood out to be particularly interesting
Disappointing
"Host to The Finest Pros and Amateurs in the World" is how they market themselves... For a former TPC Course and host of the Honda Classic, the round was a disappointment. ALL THE SIGNATURE SAND TRAPS were weed and scum filled, many with standing water and no rakes in site. Several greens were in disrepair with some getting new sod patch jobs while we played. Etiquette doesn't apply to workers evidently as they continued working and talking on radios while we putted. The course needs a lot of work and likely more people to do it -doubtful it will be in pristine shape as I remember it in the past. Sorry to call them out - now I know why it was such a good price.
Holy Sand!
Awesome place to play. LOTS of sand!! Sand is in play on most shots making for a challenging day.
Used to be Nice - Not Now
Course was in poor condition: long greens, cups had not been re-cut in a long time, rocks in sand traps, no rakes around traps, some greens barely playable, weeds in fairways, weeds in landscaping, etc. If you just want to play and don't care about course conditons then this is your place!
Cant beat it for 22 bucks
All things considered it was pretty good. Some of the greens were a little tattered but most were fine. The fairways and tee boxes were good as was the pace of play. Not as pristine as the old days but for 22 bucks a good value...especially if you like sand traps.
Deteriorating Rapidly
I've played this course many times and noticed over the last several years that the condition of the course has deteriorated noticeably. I played two days after a mild rain and there was standing water everywhere. The greens had many areas that were either bare or patched, there were weeds in the traps and they looked like they hadn't been worked in months. I even came across two golf carts that were abandoned on the course. One with a flat tire and another with a wheel missing. It looks like management doesn't have enough money to care for the course. I only paid $20 so I guess "you get what you pay for". This course should not be included in the TPC network.
Mr.
This course has great features, like restroom, ball washer own golf cart. However some of the grass need trimming because i lost a few balls because the grass was to high.
Stay away when it has been raining
The course was a cart-path only swamp. The mud was thick and the bugs were all encompassing. I almost think they should have closed the course rather than have people track through the mud. It was hard to find a dry spot to hit your ball from. The only thing that was mildly entertaining was hearing the loud swear words being shouted around the course. At least I wasn't the only one who was miserable. And one other delightful treat was the bunkers that were actually ponds where you could actually lose a ball. Beware of $20 rounds on a normally expensive course.
course in poor condition at best
We were informed that cart path only was being enforced due to the wet conditions of the course which was fine to us, however many of the golfers were not abiding to the rules and since there were no rangers to enforce this there were multiple tracks from carts all over the poorly drained course. Sand traps not only had weeds growing from them but did not have any rakes to be seen. Back nine looked like it didn't see a mower for well over a week in the rough seeds were growing on the top of the weeds. This is truly a shame because I played this course about 5 years ago and it was in excellent condition. I definitely will not be returning.
Nice Golfcourse for new Golfers like me!
Best after a few days of dry weather, water drains slowly!
