Great course for the money. I see now why they are known for their sand traps.
Soggy and Inconsistent Course Conditions
This was my first trip to Heron Bay Golf Club, and unfortunately I was disappointed with the overall course conditions. Certain things were out of the staff's control - an ample amount of recent rain had left the fairways soggy, forcing cart path only play. Other conditions could not be blamed solely on the weather. The greens looked like they had been aerated within the last 3 weeks, but were not recovering at the same rate, and were inconsistent in condition and speed. Furthermore, the bunkers, which are supposed to be the feature design element of the course, were not in good condition either and had weeds, rocks, and hard-compacted sand in them.
I was pleased with the staff's customer service, and with the large practice facility. However, given the current overall condition of the course, I unfortunately cannot recommend Heron Bay Golf Club. Perhaps the course will be in better condition during the high season.
Great Value at $25
Very pleased with my experience. Due to rain we were cart path only. The fairways were still damp and in some places really soggy, but mother nature you can not help. The greens were slow. After a 5 some let us pass if was smooth sailing. If you dont like walking dont play if it is cart paths only. Very pleased for $25.
The case for euthanasia.
I cannot understand how this facility was once a PGA designated course. I can, however, easily understand why it is no longer. The tees and greens are shag carpets. The fairways are boggy and overrun with weeds. Many of the bunkers are devoid of sand and also overrun with weeds. The rough was pasture. I was initially provided with a cart that could not be safely steered. The facility reeks of economic difficulties and a very limited maintenance budget. It is a zombie - dead, but still moving. The day's highlight? The GPS worked fine. A poor value even at $36.
Toes In The Sand
Nice course! Wide open, extremely challenging with over 180 sand traps, If you can manage to stay out of there! you'll have a great round! Greens could be a lil better, Great price. I try playing here @ least twice a month
Heron Bay - Drainage
I really liked this course the first time I played it about 6 weeks ago, I played it again after a very rainy few days and the course showed. For $18 the views alone are worth the price, but the course was soaked. You can see that they are trying to fix some damp greens and sand traps that have become standing water, for now wait a few months or stick to the hot deals, if I paid $50 I would have been disappointed. The clubhouse is great, the carts are nice and the tees they give you are fantastic (can go through an entire round with just one).
Play elsewhere
The course was in terrible condition. For a course that previously held a PGA Tour event, I was stunned at the terrible conditions. I will give the course some leeway as there was a significant amount of rain in the area in recent days, however, it was apparent by the amount of weeds, crabgrass and other significant signs of a course being neglected that led me to my opinion. Very disappointed.
Lots of SAND!
Greens were punched a week before we played, but still pretty decent. Fairways are always great. The houses around the course make for beautiful views...
ok
The course was OK. Grass was a little high in fairway, and greens were airated not to long ago. Teed off first so play was fast. People there were nice and friendly
Greens need major improvements
The greens are not to be desired. Course fairways are ok and tee boxes are below par but ok. At least put the hole in the green on the part of the green that is in the best shape.
heron bay
Greens were slow and in repair, fairways weren't cut
They ruined this course
The course is in horrible shape. Greens are patched so you are putting on 2 different levels. Also bunkers were missing sand. They have ruined a nice course!
bucket list
Prior home of the honda. Bunkers galore but avoidable and easy to gwt out of. Not many rakes on course .a few greens in bad shape but good overall. Was worth the trip.
Dog track
There wasn't a fairway or rough cut. Fairways were in terrible shape. Bunkers didn't have rakes and full of rocks. Damaged my club from a golf ball sized rock buried in the sand. Greens were awful. It was like putting through a minefield. They should take down everything that says TPC on it. When I first pulled in I was excited, everything looked great. By the second hole I wanted to ask for my money back. Not worth the cost, even with the golf now discount. Other than the course being technical and a challenge to my game there was not one redeeming quality.
Great Value
Early tee time with ver few people out on the course. Played fairly quick! Course was not mowed nor were the greens, so the course played really slow. A couple of greens had been sodded, I was not made aware prior to teeing off. For the $ it was a great value. Overall had a good time and enjoyed the round. I would recommend playing here under fair weather conditions.
HB
The course is being renovated and several greens were not really playable. Our experience was just okay.
Great day
Finally a day without rain on Saturday lead to some great conditions Sunday. Greens 1 and 9 are being worked on. Fairways needed to be mowed but that's due to the rain. Can't mow when it's wet. Played in 3 hours. Course looks much better than it did a few months ago.
Excellent value Course
Heron bay continues to be a valuable option for western broward county. Easy acces off of Sawgrass expwy and great rates. I went during a weekday afternoon and played 18 under 3 hrs. The course was wet in some areas and some greens under repair but overall in great condition. Open layout with challenging bunker locations. Good practice facility and friendly staff make it a well rounded golf destiny
