Two 18-hole courses rest on the 900-acre retreat that is all about golf -- not condos or summer homes. Panther Lakes is the flashier of the two designs at Orange County National, most say, because no two holes are the same. The playing surfaces are lush and the topography is so varied in some areas, some have a hard time believing they're in Florida. The architect made good use of the rolling meadows, grasslands, wetlands and lakes. Visually rich elements saturate the 7,295-yard design.

One of my favorite tracks in Central Florida

Amazing course layout, conditions, pro shop etc Love playing here.

Just had a slow round this time round, waiting on every hole for the group ahead of us. They placed a single and two threesomes behind all the foursomes and told us it’s just going to be slow because it’s Sunday and we are a threesome. Pro shop guy even offered me to go out alone and it wouldn’t be slow. That doesn’t show proper management skills on how to operate the course. Everything else was fine

Typical Daily Fee Facility

Played in the late afternoon. Lots of divots and pitch marks, and unraked bunkers. Several greens had weeds removed and sandy low spots where they used to be.

Friendly, helpful staff

My son and I enjoyed our round of golf today at Panther, Orange County National. When we got to the starter at Panther he asked us if we’d like like start on 10 because there was a slow outing of 20 out in front of us. That was the way to go and we had an enjoyable round in 4 hrs! Everyone was very helpful and the course is awesome! Thanks!

The women playing were struggling with the Tan Tee Box @5400 yd tees… next shortest were Whites at 6000 yards, too long for many Seniors.

Tough Track

Having played here a number of times, I can promise you Panther Lake is a great test of all your golfing skills. It’s a tough but very fair course that’s in very good condition. A few tees are a bit worn in places and the fairways have a some really thin spots but overall PL is in good shape. The greens are smooth and consistently quick but not unfairly fast given the noticeable undulations in many of them. Although our threesome waited on most shots, pace of play (4:20) was not unreasonable for a weekend round in this area. Overall, I don’t hesitate to recommend Panther Lake for a challenging and enjoyable round of golf.

Course in great shape but always slow

The staff is super friendly and helpful. The snack/food bar for Panther Lake is currently closed until winter for renovations (I assume). So if you want food after the turn you have to go back to the main clubhouse (about a 5 minute cart ride) and order from their sit down restaurant. About 40 minutes passed between #9 and #10 for our group of 3. The pace of play at this facility is never fast. Rounds usually last between 4.5 - 5 hours. This course is a bit challenging so it makes sense. I only wish the rangers pushed slow groups along to help out.

All things being said, this facility is amazing for its value. They could easily charge $100 a round but they don't. Course is in great shape and will only get better as busy season approaches.
