Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course

About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Golf
We miss the restaurant experience .. all you have is a very limited bar menu .. bring back the dining and we would have given you 5 stars
Terrible condition
Good layout and terrible condition. Greens were slow and bumpy. The bunkers were a mess. I would not go back unless it was $50. Over $100 for these conditions is a joke. .
Good condition, some holes a bit odd but overall a good experience and good place to play
Slow greens
Some sketchy fairways but overall good
Disappointed with greens.. too slow IMHO. This ball roll out was unpredictable.. or I just couldn't dial in speed.
Better than I expected
Did not expect much coming in after reading some reviews. That said, it's a solid layout with good conditions. Greens were good but could/should have been faster (seems to be a theme in the Coachella Valley). Front nine is challenging, back nine is shorter and considerably easier after you get through #11. Two reachable par 5's, a driveable par 4 and some other shorter holes.
It's a desert course and they were doing a lot of construction in the desert areas off the fairways. Pretty good value at well under $100 with a cart. It was crowded as it looked like the North course had a tournament going on.
Very enjoyable
Arrived at 11:30 for our 12:20 TT on a Monday but the friendly starter let us right on. The North tee was busy with 3 groups but the South was near empty all the way around . Conditions were excellent and we really liked the layout. Got around easily in three hours. It was about 5 years since we last played the course and it seems to have had many improvements and renos in recent years. Its better than we remembered. Well be back.
Pace of Play
Had a 8:40 am tee time as a foursome
. Caught group in front of us on 3rd hole. Then waited on every tee box for rest of round. Never saw a marshall all day. 4:55 round. Just too long.
Staff at the desk
The staff in the clubhouse could be friendly. It’s like hey don’t want to be bothered. Everyone else is great!
This was a very good golf course!
This was a very good golf course. We played the South Course. True desert golf. Lush green fairways surrounded by brown rough and desert. Lots of holes with water to avoid and a diabolical par 3 surrounded by deep sand traps. Also there was a little extra wind to contend with. I will definitely pay here again.
Fun to play
This is a mature golf course in good condition. Not much shade, so a golf cart is a must, especially with the length between some holes. Lots of bunkers and some water to deal with. Greens are in good condition, although a bit slow.
A Interesting and Challenging Course
First time that we played this course and fortunately we were joined by a member who was very familiar with the course and helped us a great deal with both course strategy and directions. The course could use more directional signs to tee boxes.
Good course, poor amenities
I thought the course was pretty good. Rough greens and fairways, but a nice layout and a true desert course. The driving range was terrible. There were no balls available and the staff weren't any help getting balls. They sent us out to the range saying balls would be there (it is quite a ways from the clubhouse) and when we arrived there were no balls. We asked a staff member and he said there was nothing he could do. I phoned the clubhouse and he said they would send someone out. Took 20 minutes. Carts were not great; old, rough and no GPS in them.
Great Value/Beautiful Views
Nice course with a great pace of play. Not too hard for children or beginners.
So so
Never seems like a really good golf experience at such a potentially great golf venue. Poor set up to load clubs and staff bossy and always marshalling to get carts in early. Just an average public course in a beautiful setting.
Amazing Desert views and fun course!
This course is mainly in the desert area so has very interesting views…lots of ups and downs and bunkers too! It is in reasonable condition…but not great! It was just overseeded so it was cart path and rough only…this really impacted pace of play and was extremely difficult in some holes! Lots to challenge both the average nd good golfer! Enjoyed our round,,,
