Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course

About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Nice desert track
Played the South Course since last year we Didn’t get a chance to get out there on the south course but we played the north course.
The south course Is enjoyable track.
There is a lot of sand and some tight fairways and slopes that can make your game a challenge.
Play the safe shot when you have the chance!
The course was in pretty good shape! The greens were really tough to read for me. Very grainy Compared to what I’m used to putting on.
So it was hard to read the speed and the brakes I had 40 putts!!! I lost one ball in the canal.
Unfortunately, we had some guys behind us that were really riding up on us even though we had people right in front of us the entire time. We were a foursome and they were a threesome and on the 18th hole they hit up onto the green while we were putting. And they didn’t even apologize for it.
It’s not like we were being slow. We’re actually really fast golfers. There was nowhere for us to be going. So that kind of made us feel annoyed and ruined a bit of the enjoyment of the round.
It seems strange because it was the morning like a Monday and it’s like isn’t most of the population here retired or on vacation and what’s the big hurry.
Like I say, we would’ve let them through, but there was nowhere for them to be going anyway-so ?
Interesting Holes
Took 5hrs to play....got in right before dark! There was no Marshall out there to speed up slow groups. Not enough restrooms on South Course. Recently reopened after overfeeding so greens were very slow. It probably will be im better condition in the winter. I did like the layout of certain holes.

Service and golf
Service in the bar area was excellent. Pro shop person so so. Not too friendly, other golfers on our butt all the way. Golf bag service very good. Played the south course. Would have preferred the nirth if it was open .
Decent price but very disappointing experience
This was a really disappointing experience. The course is in mediocre shape, the greens are absolutely terrible and it feels like the owners have given up and are not maintaining or improving anything. In addition to that, when we checked in at the pro-shop, they told us that if we aren’t finished by 5:00pm, we should just quit and return to the clubhouse. At first we thought they were joking - it’s still broad daylight at 5pm, why would we have to stop?!?! Apparently the staff leaves early?! Then they told us that the driving range is CLOSED in the middle of the day - from 11:00am-1:00pm - the starter said it’s embarrassing and he doesn’t know how to explain this strange management decision to guests. When we asked if we could just hit some putts then, the answer was the same - “no, sorry, the practice green is closed too.” We played with a couple visiting from out of town and they said that they have played many courses during their vacation and this was by far the worst experience. I really hope the owners decide to address these issues because if they don’t, there’s no way this business will survive.
Good condition
Good condition considering it was over seeded not very long ago. Always a pleasure playing a desert course.
Late notice
As we were approaching the first tee we were informed that we had to return the cart by 5PM. With a 1:40 tee time it was obvious that we couldn’t be done with 18 holes by 5PM. The first tee had 3 groups waiting to tee off so our 1:40 time was pushed back. The pace of play was very slow. Teed off the 14th hole just before 5 and had to end play at end of that hole even though sunset was 6 PM. Wish we knew prior to booking the 5 PM restriction. Staff was friendly but pace was slow. They said we should have no problem playing all 18 but very questionable even if they didn’t require all carts back by 5PM.
Advance notice of their policies would have been ideal, but then we wouldn’t have booked that course.
sand
no sand in bunkers...we finally made a rule you got a free drop out of ALL bunkers...
Slow play
It was brutally slow because carts were cart path only. Long walks for older golfers was brutal. Two groups in front stopped after 12th hole or we would have or round wold have been 5 - 6 hours.
