Castle Creek Country Club

This Course was in the worst condition I’ve ever seen! It was a cow pasture! We literally stopped playing after 3 holes and accepted 1/2 our money back in order not to waste our time! The Manager really gave us a hard time just getting 1/2 our money back and I wouldn’t recommend this Course to ANYONE!

I understand during COVID it is difficult to keep everything top notch, which is why I did not rate the off course amenities. The bar is closed, however you can still purchase some alcohol from a cooler. My primary issue is that the course is over priced. We paid $40 with a cart and I believe $30 with a cart would be more appropriate given the condition of the course. Also, most of the cart path is in very poor condition. The cart path has obviously been in need of some tlc for years. The staff was very friendly, especially after having to bring a new cart twice due to the battery.

Fast pace of play and some challenging holes, but the course is currently in very poor condition. Price should be lower for the condition the course is in.

This course has huge potential. I have played most courses around San Diego County both public and private and this is one of my favorite lay outs. My handicap is currently a 3 so I like to think I have some decent insight here. Here is my plea for an investor or golf course operator to save this potential gem:

This course could be something great for golfers in San Diego and south Riverside County. The original design of the course has some awesome risk/reward par 4s and a mix of long par 5s (one 600 yard par 5) and reachable par 5s. The par 3s are all great. There are holes where you can bang your driver and there are holes where you need to be strategic. The property is lined with huge oak trees with a creek running through the entire course. Holes 10 through 12 are a little messy as they run side to side and golfers can be all over the place. But 12 is an awesome par 5 which runs down alongside what probably formally was a great little creek. Currently around the 12 green is turf that is country club level nice. Unfortunately that's the only spot like that on the course. So clearly grass like that can grow on this property.

If you can appreciate great golf course design, then you will enjoy playing this course despite its condition. Unfortunately, most of the reviews are accurate with poor/very slow greens with some disease on some holes, dirt patches everywhere, and very uneven tee boxes. The lakes are empty even though there are multiple wells on the course... yes, there are multiple water outlets on this course yet if you are not in the fairway you're not going to like your lie. The prices are currently well over-inflated and they do not offer twilight discounts... which makes no sense.

If someone comes in and invests in this entire property, including what formerly was a cool little boutique hotel, they could capitalize. The bones of this place are great. The club house has nice views with a ton of outdoor seating but it's very outdated. People actually used to have really nice weddings here. I'm 33 and wish I had seen this place when it was at its best.

My advice to golfers is to give this place a shot if the rates go down. You will enjoy it if you get over the poor conditions. The more play this place gets the better opportunity we have for this place to sell to someone who understands golf course maintenance and the potential to get a great return on investment while providing a great experience for Southern California golfers. With a dedication to a good renovation, maybe adding a driving range, this place could compete with the likes of Temecula Creek Inn and other golf destinations. I truly believe this could be a great golf destination if you haven't been able to tell yet by my review.

Layout of the course is good. Too much watering, I know it has been very hot and dry but your feet should not sink in certain areas.

Clubhouse guy was rude and awful. Pace of play a joke. Was like the Ski Resort in Hot Tub Time Machine. May have been ok in 70s and 80s. If you need a gopher for a pet this is your course. Fairways looked like the B52 practice range.. iIt’s a shame, could be a nice place but the staff is a reflection of the course

This course must be a money laundering front. Nobody even opened pro shop till 7am. Everything is falling apart on and off the course. I almost twisted my ankle twice in pot holes around the course. My buddy said it felt like playing golf after the armegeddon.

Just the most unkept course I have ever played. Deff not worth the money!

Great layout. Great pace of play. Unfortunately, the greens look like they have been shelled, the fairways are brown, and the tee boxes are baren. I had a good time, but I will not likely come back.

They are trying to make improvements but do not have enough manpower to make an headway. This time what I noticed was that the greens are getting enough water but are not mowed daily. There is some kind of course grass growing in and taking over on some greens and it does not appear like any effort is being made to control it. It does not look like anyone tries to fix ball marks either workers or golfers. This place is sad.

Showed up at 645a for a 7am tee time and no one was there. The place looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the 40's when it opened. There was vomit all over the bathroom walls. I'm fairly forgiving but this was really bad. The course was a mess too. Gopher mountains all over including on the greens. Weed infested greens... my title says it all. GolfNow owes me one.

Opened 1948, I don’t think it’s been watered since 1949. Golf now should remove it from there lineup. Must be going to shut down soon.

The course has the appearance of a course that’s been closed for months. Must have not paid there water bill. Golf now should remove this cow pasture from there lineup. From the first hole all I wanted was my money back.

Been coming to this course over the past 15 years or so, but haven’t played the course in a few years. Man, what happened?! This course is HORRIBLE now... and they have the nerve to charge a premium rate? Ridiculous. Not worth paying 1/2 the price. Would advise not to wast your time playing this course. If they don’t invest in improving the course and maintaining it, then they should just close it. What a shame... it used to be a nice course and one of my favorites. 1 out 5 stars is generous.

After playing today I won't go back. Tee boxes,fairway and green conditions were 2/10 condition. The whole course is yellow instead of green, with lumpy uneven tee boxes and earthquaked rattled greens too not even knowing where the fairway starts or ends. Not to mention all sprinkers were on while playing the front 9 (Tee time @ 7:00am). Had to wait at least 4-5 minutes for the sprinklers to finish on 7 out of 9 holes. While the course was sopping wet and muddy everywhere. The cart paths weren't even smooth, multiple potholes, crazy cracks where your cart almost catches air. This should be a 20$ course instead of 45$.

Fun course layout, the pace of play was exceptional especially for a Saturday morning as we finished the round in just over 4 hours.

The course could be in better condition as the fairways were very spotty and the greens were extremely slow. I would recommend playing early as by the time we finished it was hovering around 100 degrees
