Greens condition Photo submitted by manuelbravo on 09/06/2017
Staff
starter very nice.
Pro shop guy not friendly.
Snack bar girl downright nasty
Pace of play.
The pace of play was 5 hours & 10minutes. No ranger. Tight fairways.
Cow Pasture
Course has potential but is in absolutely terrible shape. Greens are inconsistent. Tee boxes and greens are burned out. Wouldn't recommend to anyone
Great day at Castle!
Playing at Castle Creek is not about condition. The greens are not doing well this winter, but are normally some of the best during the summer. Playing at Castle Creek is about the challenge. I have always enjoyed playing here.
Good price, poor course conditions
I have played this course a few times in the past and the course condition has deteriorated. Well below average from tee to green. The layout is decent, The $29 rate is good only if you want to get out of the house for 4 hours.
Back 9 makes this course
Course suffering from drought. Front 9 is so so, but back 9 builds character. Some very tough stretches with elevation changes and carries.
Castle Creek
The course greens were not in great shape. Sprinklers were on in areas where I needed to access to hit my ball. This was near the green on several holes
For $20 a good value
Well, it is winter, but this is an average track and one should not over pay. It is not senic or remarkable.. There are no special features or attractions. The fairways are dormant. Lots of roll but not a great striking surface. The greens are average and the bunkers poor (good thing there are not a lot of fairway bunkers). I paid $20 on a weekday and so it was a good deal, but I wouldn"t want to pay more than $35 durring the week.
Great value
It's a reasonably challenging course for a reasonable price. Watch out on 10,11,12 as they are parallel fairways
A reasonable course for all skill levels
A combination of wide open as well as extremely narrow/tree-lined holes. Good variety of different looks for the 18 holes.
nice place
i'd play it anytime...price is right...greens are great...course is managed well....
Enjoyed this course, will play again.
Course was fun to play, paired with a couple and had a good time. Others playing the course were friendly.
Fair Price for a Fair Trest
Castle Creek is in a beautiful setting and is a fair test of any golfer's skills. The fairways were okay, typical bermuda winter-fade. The greens varied greatly in conditions. I spoke to thePro SHop personnel after the round and they explained that the greens on the course had been infested by several different types of fungus. It was only recently that they discovered that different treatments were required. So some were great, some were spotty, and some were just really tough to find a good route to the hole!
All in all, a fair price for a fair test!
Not worth it even at $29.00!
Very, very poor condition. Tee Boxes uneven, poor grass and littered with divots. Fairways are covered in bare patches. Green in very poor shape with uneven grass coverage. This course suffers from has little or no proper maintenance.
Great Day!
Castle Creek is a great place to play and a real value. If you throw out 10,11, &12 which are way too narrow for the average golfer, the course is a great lay-out for the average player. There is enough variety of hole lay-outs and design. For the most part, except for the three mentioned holes, the course is fairly wide open. Paid $34 for a weekday rate. pace of play was good. Definitely will go back. North San Diego County has a lot of good courses with reasonable rates. Shop around.
Overpriced for crabgrass on the course
For a little local course the price is way too high. Most holes are boring and dead straight; but there are a few very challenging dog legs. What is awful is the condition of the grass just around the greens--the first cut was crabgrass ! Inexcusable for a course if there is a superintendent present
First time playing Castle Creek
Check-in easy and staff very accommodating. Play was delayed due to frost on greens. Men's club start times pushed back, however we were directed to begin at hole #2 to get started on time. Worked out great. Fairways and greens need some attention, with many areas that need improved grass growth. Very nice setting and enjoyed the round of golf. On par with others courses in the area.12/8/13
greens fast even after rain
Green seeding complete. New growth is filling wrll. Tee boxes wrre rough and undefined due to overseed restrictions. Signs of long overdue maintenance being done.
Played on a rain check, course is in great shape.
We were rained out after 3 holes, we were given a rain check by the course and played the next day. Very accomodating staff, good restaurant with a great selection of craft beers on tap. The course itself is in very good shape.
Course layout is alright, but very poor green condition.
We played on thanksgiving so the pace of play was excellent, 3 hours. The layout of the course is fine with plenty of length from the blue tees. The 596 yd par 5 played against the wind and was a challenge. Unfortunately the greens were in very poor shape, very bumpy with a lot of bare spots.
