Average
Made a foursome reservation for a price that was good for 2 to 4 players. Had a friend back out at the last minute but figured it would be okay since the price didn't require a foursome. They charged me for four any way because it was "policy." I know there is a note on the web page, but a course interested in customer service would have not charged me the extra green fee. I still needed two carts, and it wasn't going to interrupt their game flow. They also didn't subtract the money charged to my credit card when I made the reservation online. Yea, that's kind of on me to double check, but should I have to? They did offer me a rain check good for a month, but I'm not local and most likely won't be back. Course is pretty empty most of the time. A good course to challenge accuracy but not for distance. Average condition...not nice, but not horrible.
This course has water everywhere.
Be prepared to shoot over and around the water. If you've never played the course, as soon as you see the tall grass, expect water. A few narrow fairways and a GREAT par three on the back nine to challenge your "hole in one " dreams. The greens are BEAUTIFUL!! And the groundskeepers are pleased when you tell them that.
Short 5800 yds from the Blue
The course is short but has many tough holes. Difficult in knowing the course as it was the first time we ever played there. Some holes with trees in the middle of the fairway and you need to know where to hit. Lots of trees and some water.
course is in horrible condition
fairways not in good condition, no sand in sand traps, weeds growing in sand traps, weeds growing along the cart paths
Do not go here
Online they claim they have improved the conditions. I did not see it, most of the fairways were close to unplayable with large bare areas. Some of the water hazards had no water. They claim to have changed some of the par 4's to par 5 ...all they did was move the tees to a different area which gives you a blind tee shot. I was not impressed.
Like the course
Course is fine but when i went to book a tee time it said time unavailable so my friend and i didnt golf that day but i was still charged $100 from my account thats not right getting double charged for a round we didnt even play if i knew i was getting charged i would have gone so as of know i will no longer be booking tee times with this site.
Great Outing. Very much a challenge .
My Partner had played the course several times and invited me to come along,I had a great Time and will return to play often.
cheap, not worth it, terrible shape
A buddy and I played this course the week of 6/5. We walked in and the first thing you notice is a large bucket on the counter of the pro shop to catch the water leaking from the ceiling above. We were told that we would be "squeezed in" around a men's club that was on the course. We arrived early for our tee time and it became apparent that they leave up all of the golfnow.com tee times up even if the tee times are currently booked. They started us off on ten to the dismay of the grumpy senior citizen four some making the turn. To please them we started on twelve! Once you make it to the tee box you notice that the fairways are full of dirt, the sand traps are full of rocks and there is stagnant water on almost every whole. The course is in terrible shape. I would not recommend it to anyone until they get their act together.
Nice course for taking the wife out for a round
Not too long but hard to overpower due to narrow fairways. Good green conditions but a little slow. A nice morning with the wife, but would go somewhere longer and a bit wider with my buddies. Good course for seniors (what it was built for).
Beautiful & Relax
Fun course to spent a day for golfing.
Green in good shape.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
good Food too!
Beautiful & Relax
Fun course to play.
Very enjoyable.
Great Hamburger.
Friendly staff.
Is a very short but narrow and tight course
Course in fair condition. First time player. Very short (5500 yds) but a lot of obstacles to be aware of so course management is important. Need to play 2-3 times to learn how you have to play it. i.e. # 10 is a layup drive due to a large ditch 175 yds out in a gully 75 yds in front of the green. This ditch can't be seen from the tee and if your ball goes in it, it is probably lost. Miss some fairways, get in some ugly growth right on the edge and your ball is lost. We got a "hot deal" on Golf Now on a Sat for $12 so can't complain about that. Was a very hot day and play was fast. Greens were slow, which I liked, but took a while to get used to.
fairways need work
fairways need work, there were some places that needed mowing and others that needed grass
good course for beginners
I just feel they need to do some work on there tee boxes, because they are not flat, they are more rounded or lopsided with tons of scuffs everywhere that throw your swing and stance off. Besides that, I had tons of fun and the greens were in good condition, with a great price for a game of golf.
Tight fairways - lots of trouble
Very tight fairways. Lots of brush/trees along fairways. Bunkers hard packed. Not a bad course if you hit them straight. Bring lots of balls if you don't.
Great course
The course was fantastic and i cant wait to play there again.
Good practice course
Think of the course as a long executive course. Simple layout , enables the golfer to practice iron/ wedge shot making .
Nice cource had a great time.
alright club pretty easy course to golf but had a great time, nice scenery.
Greens slow, fairway skimpy
fairways, greens and sand traps all need attention
Short tight course, needs better maintenance.
My take on this course is they took minimal amount of land available and tried to fit 18 holes in. Most of the Par 4's are around 300 yards. They try to compensate the shorter holes with narrow and hidden fairways. So you can't see the fairways on many holes and there's very little room for error. If you like to drive the ball then this is not the place for you. I am also guessing that because this course is in a retirement community it initial intention was for the older player. It looks like the course was originally called Colony after the retirement community. Now its Cal Oaks which is funny because upon arriving I thought I was in the wrong place! Its also gated. I asked the security guard if that was Cal Oaks and she replied that she didn't know. Then on the course the greens were aerated, cart had faulty brakes, general state of the course was poor. So on that particular day it was not a good experience at all. Unfortunately felt like a waste of a day. But in saying that this course looks like a lot of fun if it were in better shape and I am not sure if there are times in the year when its in its prime.
