My mother, DeAnn, loves to play this course Photo submitted by Jim7343028 on 02/06/2015
Poor conditions
Pretty bad condition. Lost so many balls that shouldn’t have been. I literally drove the green and still lost one. Probably won’t play here again.
Needs TLC
Honestly the course payout was not that bad and interesting. I would totally go again on this course if it wasn't so badly maintained.
Pot holes, ditches, uneven fairway and tee boxes. The works. Hope they turn this course around
OK course for OK time
Ugh - I love and hate this place at the same time. I love it because it's super close, pretty cheap to play, easy to get to, the weather is nice, and the staff is amazing, and because of course conditions (not that good) - It's usually not too busy and I can take my time and really get some good practice in.
I hate it because the course lay out is not great, LOTS of lost golf balls, it's in very poor condition, the greens are terrible, there's no "club house", and because it's in a senior neighborhood - it's 50/50 you get stuck behind a retired couple who are in no hurry.
If this place caught up to this century and invested into their course more it has an insane amount of potential, until then, just a cheap course to hit with the boys when your just looking to get some practice in and not take things too seriously.
Old Duffer
For the most part I enjoyed my first round at Cal Oaks starting with check in. The gentleman who checked me in and also took care of carts etc was very good and explained the course layout.
The course layout has great potential but is in need of some TLC. There are some fun holes especially the one you had to drive your ball between some very large trees or you’d be in trouble.
I would recommend playing this course.
Staff best part
Nice staff. Course in terrible conditions and the pace was poor.
Deteriorated condition
Watching the U.S. Open at Pinehurst, we see how penalizing the waste areas are off of the fairways. A drive down the middle of California Oaks will result in a similar situation. At least, the greens are green but incredibly slow.
$15 with a cart for 18 holes here would be a fair price.
Course was in rough shape
Had fun but the course was in really rough shape. It needs some TLC.
