Grass longer than a foos socks
Grass was so long finding your ball was hard to do. The course was swamped with water.
Pace is terrible
0830 on a weekend in a twosome.
No starter, group ahead of us had 6 people. Thankfully 3 holes later they let us play though. Got to the turn and started waiting at least 10 mins each hole to tee off. Price and layout of this course lures you in, then you're reminded how painful it is to get through 18. We left on the back 9.
Horrible Course
There is nothing to recommend about this course. Unfriendly person checking us in and the terrible condition of the course. Most of the fairways were so overgrown it was hard ti find your ball.
It used to be a good course but it has so bad and not worth the money to play here.
Played here 3 of the last 4 weeks and conditions getting better every week. They’re finally cutting fairways on the front 9
Overgrown Fairways
I understand that we have had more rain than usual, but they did not bother to mow the fairways .
The clover and weeds made it difficult to find your ball on the fairway, never mind get a good strike at it.
Good course, just needs a bit of course maintenance
My only main issue with this course is the rough is pretty thick and tall on the edges of the greens and the fairway and lost a good amount of balls that I shouldn’t have. If managemente spent a bit on keeping fairways and rough (2-4 feet of the edge of the fairway) in better conditions this course would provide a mich better experience for players.
Cancel you Players Club now
Golfers they are making a ton of money off us and not doing their part bt keeping up the course , matts only bs, (greed) and more. Spread the word. Lots of players club guys that dont even go and keep paying. Wish i could get the email list. Worst conditions ever!!
F9 Barely playable
Front 9 has not been mowed for a very long time. Spoke to staff and said having trouble hiring? You literally have to sweep your shoes in 6-9" of clover and hope to kick your ball. Back 9 is normal for Trails. Should have option to play back 9 2x. Been playing this course for about 20 years. Worst I've seen in a very long time. Bring a lot of balls. Even if you hit just off fairways and greens, it is a 50/50 chance you will find your ball.
Extremely Disappointed
Once was my home course. A lot of rain has troubled many SD courses but there was no excuse for conditions here. Fairways recently cut with loose grass everywhere. We were told that grass around greens had not yet been cut but it was longer than the rough for a US Open and it was fairway. We quit after 9 and over 3 hours. I rarely lose balls but lost 2 sleeves in 9 holes. I felt like I had played 27 after 9.
A lot of water standing from the rains on the front nine and they can’t cut so a lot of tall clovers on the fairways. Lost a lot of balls in the clovers on the fairways. Back nine is stellar. Greens are super good and fast. When it dries up and they can cut the front nine, it will be killer.
Terrible course conditions
I've played at Mission Trails many times before, and as one of the "cheaper" options in town, a pristine course is not to be expected. That said, this was easily the WORST course conditions I've ever experienced at any course I've played in San Diego. The fairways were all so overgrown that finding a perfectly straight tee shot was impossible at times. In addition to the lack of cutting, walking was like trekking through a marsh or the everglades in Florida. My feet and lower pant legs were completely soaked from the first hole on. They should have either had the course closed for business or at least warned potential golfers that the course was in a pretty rough state. To charge regular weekend prices for the type of conditions we played on was almost thievery.
Muddy, grassy and fairways nowhere to be found
I suppose it is because of the recent downpours but truth be told, fairways looked like roughs and roughs where little jungles where you could lose the most straightforward ball.
