Wouldn’t recommend playing this course unless you have to. Course layout is lame, too many ups and downs and too short. Feels like it should be condemned any day. The pro shop attendant was a total tool as well. Won’t be going back.
Fun, but showing its age.
Mission Trails has a fun layout, especially a back 9 that almost feels like a mountain course. But the course is poorly maintained... dead fairways, thin bunkers, etc. It plays very short for a full length track at 5900 from the blues. I don't mind that so much, but it's definitely a throwback. The clubhouse is old and offers little more than a bathroom and a check-in. The tee boxes are beat. It kind of feels like the course is just being let go.
It's one of the cheapest full length courses in SD, and there's always fun to be had with the layout. But it is aging. Some TLC could make this decent course into a great course, but you have to trade that off against the $50 green fees.
Golf Day At Mission Trails
Fun day playing golf at Mission Trails except for backup on a few holes.
Always Nice
The greens were slow, but it’s been hot so understandable. Bunkers are great.
No Carts and Horrendous Pace
I have played this course over 100 times and almost every time there is something to be disappointed about. For starters, the pace of play here is always ridiculous. There is rarely a Marshall, and when he is there he does not do anything. No starter. The course itself is in decent shape. Greens are decent, but many of the fairways are dead especially on the back nine. Finally swore I wouldn’t come back because of my last experience. Showed up at 5:15 for a 5:45 tee time and there were four groups hanging out on the practice green. All four groups were waiting on carts. The man in the pro shop, was very nice and apologetic, explained that they did not have any carts available and were relying on carts coming in after finishing rounds. The problem was that the majority of carts coming in were dead and could not be sent back out for another round. The 5pm tee time in front of us did not tee off until 5:50. We did not tee off until after 6:30, and only because two groups decided to skip waiting and just walk the course instead. No fault at all of the man working in the pro shop, the owners of this course just do not put the money in to make it playable. The players club sounds like a good deal, but it is not worth it to have to deal with the terrible pace of this course. If it was not so cheap, no one would play here.
Made my day
Very slow but still enjoyable. Still made my day.....
Cart issues
Would have been a great outing but our cart died on us around the 6th hole..
Talked to the clubhouse and they’re going to let us play again soon. Overall was a good course, good pace of play. Some patchy grass areas. But, hasn’t rained in months. Would definitely be back to play again.
Brutal conditions
Even if your friend tells you they will pay, I wouldn't play this course. Hit the ball down the fairway and end up on the dirt, it's rippled. There are no flat spots. The greens are spongy, terribly bumpy. It's sad because the layout's pretty good.
MTR.
Course was actually fun. Greens were great. Fairways overall were nice. Tee boxes look like needed work. We will play again. We were back up on about three holes with 3 groups. Very slow. Twosome ahead of us hit two tee shot balls on every hole. Scenery is gorgeous.
Nice layout needs water
I like the layout the greens are in pretty good shape but a lot of dead fairways, Bruce behind the counter not the friendliest per on the planet But the guy on the 10th tee selling the raffle tickets is very nice. I have played there many times and every time I run into Bruce he is in a bad mood not sure he likes his job ?
